EXPERIENCE
JANUARY 2023 – CURRENT
STUDENT TEACHER/ LONG-TERM SUB
While student teaching, I have practiced community building, unit planning, and flexibility during
a wide variety of situations. It was during these past two months that I learned how important it
is for educators to not only be flexible, but how much we need to adjust lessons based on
student interests, struggles, and differing comprehension levels. This lesson has become even
more apparent to me as I have become a long-term sub for 6th, 11th, and 12th graders with a
weekend’s notice. It is an opportunity to learn and grow, as all educators should always be
doing.

SITE DIRECTOR, ALPHABEST

OCTOBER 2020 – DECEMBER 2022
AlphaBEST is a company that runs before and after-school programs in elementary schools. I
started as a Group Lead who would lead students in zones (activities in language, STEM, fitness,
SEL, and art), and then moved up to Site Director. I ran the site at Beattie Elementary where I
interacted with parents, oversee the routine, help us as a group to create a safe community, and
used PBIS, among many other things.

RESEARCH ASSISTANT, CSU ENGLISH DEPARTMENT
Researching and developing a First-Generation Peer- Mentoring program for the English
Department at CSU. The research included information on first-generation students, what
affects them, statistics, peer mentoring, and first-generation programs at other colleges. Once
the research was complete, I brainstormed ideas for a class and program that can be
incorporated into the English Department at CSU.

JUNE 2020 – AUGUST 2020

TEACHING FELLOW, GENERATION TEACH
At Generation Teach, I have completed two weeks of virtual reality simulations and training in
identity, community building, and content. I was lead teaching two sections and supporting two
sections of reading five days a week. I have received daily coaching and feedback from
professional teachers with the opportunity to implement proven teaching methods. I also taught
and supported synchronous classes online, proficiently led instruction in a virtual setting, and
managed multiple learning and information systems. I have planned, led, and supported
strategic and engaged virtual community-building initiatives to foster strong student
relationships and investments following school courses. I have completed an AmeriCorps term of
service while serving middle-school students who achieve an average of two months of growth in
reading and math.
