my actions and thoughts were just wrong. Try as I might though, my thinkin was definitely stinkin. I prayed and fasted for a full day and then was able to respond in a more Christ-like way, So pray, fast, seek God, let the Holy Spirit lead and watch God do something great, just as He did for me! The leading of God is real... And, I am cool with that!

Kurtis Kubinski
By Hank and Anita Sower
Kurtis James Kubinski was born Sept. 29, 1994, in Garden City, Michigan. He is a very active part of our youth group and many of the younger teens look up to him. Kurtis was on the mission team to Georgia, helping people ravaged by flooding. As a Team Member he proved to be a great worker and a lot of fun. He is on a journey of hope, faith, and discovery. His favorite color is orange; favorite food is chicken; favorite subject is math; and his favorite hobby is guitar playing. He has two brothers Zachary & Alex. He is a junior at Trillium Academy. Some of the best advice he ever received came from his father, your brothers are all you have, stay close to them. Kurtis enjoys reading the book of Romans. Especially the
Donna Yert
By Kathy Hazeldine
Donna is one of the most caring people I know. Every time I see her she is upbeat and polite. Most of us would find it hard to maintain such an attitude if we were in her shoes, or casts, rather. You see, Donna is recovering from multiple foot surgeries. After surgery and 2 weeks in the hospital she went to live in a group home, where she began reading the Bible. She prayed for God to relieve her of her pain and sadness. She will testify that He is the Great Healer! After being in several group homes, in 2010 she was accepted into a semiindependent living apartment. She is much happier and much more independent now. She has dreams and plans to go to work part-time and save money

PG 4 The Tree
Every week, sometimes 2 or 3 times a week, I pull into the church parking lot, drive past this tree, and NEVER pay attention to it. The other day, I actually looked at it. If you notice, it is dead in the middle, and green and full on the outside. It is a lot like us in a couple ways. First- It reminded me that people are beautiful on the outside, but on the inside, some of us are all ugly and dead. We spend so much time and money trying to keep up our "outside' appearance, but neglect the inside. All of us are dead on the inside. There are a lot of theories on how to fertilize our insides. However, there is only ONE fertilizer that works. THAT'S JESUS. Like plants, you need to feed your "insides" too. Feed yourself by reading your Bible and praying every day. So, don't be like that tree, dead on the inside, feed yourself, and keep your whole tree alive.

There is the story of a pastor who got up one Sunday and announced to his congregation: "I have good news and bad news. The good news is, we have enough money to pay for our building. The bad news is, it's still out there in your pockets.
September 10The Taylor Summer Fun will be held at our church, Journey of Hope. We are responsible for coordinating the Cake Walk. If you will bake a couple cakes, some cupcakes (4-6 in a package), or some cookies to be given away in the cake walk we could really use the donation. Please place the baked goods on a plate or container that can be given away with the cake. September 10We will need several people to work three hour shifts at the cake walk, and at the Journey of Hope Table, giving out brochures and answering questions about our church. We will also need a few volunteers to direct people inside our building to the bathrooms and to give tours as they are requested. It is simple to volunteerYou can call the church office or you can see Dottie or Pastor Bill or sign up on the Friendship Pad Sunday morning or at the table in the Foyer of our church. We also need video games, and bean bag chairs for our new Childrens Ministry Room. See Lynne Meharg, Lynnette Snyder, Ezio Panone, or Dottie Fix if you can help us.

Our Leadership Team has been meeting and fervently praying for our Leadership Retreat that is scheduled for September 24th in Jackson, Michigan. The purpose of the retreat is to work on the mission, vision and goals to create a five year plan for Journey of Hope. Several Cottage Meetings have been held to hear from our church family. Pray for our team as we meet with representatives from the Southern Michigan Conference to col8 laborate and agree on an aggressive plan of action. Our Superintendent Thomas Ramundo has called the entire SMC to be in prayer for our Leadership. Please Pray for the Leaders.

Journey of Hope is planning a Missions trip to Honduras sometime in the early summer of 2012. We will be going to the boarding school where Scott Smith, Jr. is a missionary teacher. We want to encourage you to pray about going on this life changing trip. In our Scott Smith, Jr. communication with the school we have determined that some of our work will include building projects and a Vacation Bible School. Depending on who goes with us we may decide to do some simple medical clinic type of work too. The need there is great and the people hungry to know more about Jesus. We are announcing this early to give people a chance to pray about their involvement, save for the trip if they are planning on going, and make early preparation by getting a passport, learning about the country and people, and getting hearts prepared to make a difference in another part of the world.

Jimmy and Jeannette Bolton, pictured above, are members of Journey of Hope Community Church and are a vital part of our ministry. They own Jimmys Jumpers and not only donate the jumpers to many Journey of Hope Events but they are in the Community sharing their faith as Christ Followers. They have two children Chelsea and Dylan and they serve the Church and the Lord in various capacities. Jimmy is currently working on a new Journey of Hope Sign that we hope will be completed by September 10th for our Taylor Family Fun Day. A day that will have jumpers scattered all over our property. This couple is fun to be with and live a very busy lifestyle. They know the value of children and have always planned events for their family. We love the Bolton Family. Thanks J&J!
