We recently escorted a group on a Celebrity Cruisetour that can only be described as an awesome vacation package. If you havent visited Alaska you cant imagine the incredible views Mother Nature has in store for you. We arrived in Fairbanks the day prior to the start of our tour which we highly recommend. The first day of our tour was filled with activities including a tour on the Riverboat Discovery Sternwheeler and a stop at the El Dorado Gold Mine. You get a great insight of how the pioneers lived in those early days. Early the next morning we boarded Celebritys private railcar on the Wilderness Express bound for Denali. The scenery along the way is breathtaking and Celebritys domed railcar is truly luxurious. Arriving in Denali we were transported to the Denali Lodge and had the rest of the day to explore Denali. We dined at the Denali Lodge that evening and the food was outstanding. The following morning we boarded our bus and toured the Denali National Forest. The scenery is breathtaking and we saw Caribou, Dahl Sheep, Moose and a Grizzly Bear that crossed the road directly in front of our bus. The following morning we boarded the bus and headed for Anchorage where we had lunch and then headed on to Seward to board the Celebrity Millennium. What a ship! She is big and she is beautiful. Boarding was a breeze and we were soon settled into our stateroom. Celebritys service is outstanding, the food is fabulous and the entertainment first class. One evening we dined at the Millenniums specialty restaurant, the Olympic, where we found the food and service outstanding. We recommend this as a must for those taking a Celebrity cruise. The cruise is full of adventure and sightseeing. From the Hubbard Glacier to the ports-of-call in Skagway, Juneau, Icy Strait Points, Ketchikan and cruising the Inside Passage your days are filled sightseeing and exploring all the ports of call have to offer. We arrived in Vancouver on July 1st, their Independence Day. While some departed for home others spent a couple of nights at the Fairmount Waterfront Hotel and took in the sights of Vancouver. Our stay also included a trip to Victoria Island and a visit to the world famous Butchart Gardens. The gardens are breathtaking and something you wont want to miss. All good things must come to an end and as we departed we think back to the great friends we made, the outstanding Celebrity tour guide and bus driver that escorted us, and the amazing scenery of Americas last frontier, that made our Celebrity cruisetour memories that will last us a lifetime.
