The Three Woes # Lets take a look at the three woes spoken of in Revelation 8. The way in which they correspond with the trumps has often been confusing. Gods Word will always clarify, however, if we will take the time to study and understand. # The first part of Chapter 8 covers the first two trumpets which describe the deception that comes upon the earth prior to Satans actual appearance. Lets begin in Verse 10. REV 8:10 And the third angel sounded, and there fell a great star from heaven, burning as it were a lamp, and it fell upon the third part of the rivers, and upon the fountains of waters; #This is the same great star from Luke 10 and Isaiah 14 He calls himself Lucifer, Apollyon, bright star, etc.. Hell illuminate everything when he arrives with his false warmth, false truth, and false love. Notice, however, that it fell on only a third. REV 8:11 And the name of the star is called Wormwood: and the third part of the waters became wormwood; and many men died of the waters, because they were made bitter. # These men died a spiritual death, not a physical one. They were poisoned by the bitter lies that flow forth to deceive those who are not prepared. REV 8:12 And the fourth angel sounded, and the third part of the sun was smitten, and the third part of the moon, and the third part of the stars; so as the third part of them was darkened, and the day shone not for a third part of it, and the night likewise.

# Again, only one third were affected. We have learned through prophecy that when Christ returns the sun is darkened. Satan is an old copy cat but the best he can do is one third. That will be enough, though. Hell fool the masses so completely, those who are waiting to fly away will be packing. REV 8:13 And I beheld, and heard an angel flying through the midst of heaven, saying with a loud voice, Woe, woe, woe, to the inhabiters of the earth by reason of the other voices of the trumpet of the three angels, which are yet to sound! # The manuscripts do not say angel. John was looking at an eagle. Have you ever heard an eagle screech in warning? They make an awesome sound. What was the warning? Woe, woe, woe because of the remaining angels yet to sound! Remember, Satan is already on the earth and there are still three woes to go. What can this mean? Gods elect MUST understand! # In Revelation 12 another aspect of the same chain of events is being described. By Verse 7 were already through the first two trumps and coming up on the third. REV 12:7 And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, REV 12:8 And prevailed not, neither was their place found any more in heaven.

Rev 12:9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the devil and satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. # Here is another example of Satans roles. Even his own trinity if you wish, but dont lose sight of the fact there is only one entity. REV 12:10 And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night. REV 12:11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto death. #This is Gods elect, beloved. Thats you. REV 12:12 Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time. # Which woe is this? It has often been taught that this is the third most dreadful one. Not so! As we just read the eagle cries in warning just as soon as Satan arrives. It said here that Michael just cast him out of heaven and there are still three trumps to sound. This is the first woe. It is a sign of Satan taking action. But, are we told what his methods are? Well get to that. Lets first see if we can discern the other woes. # First and foremost we must always remember that the ONLY conflict, causing even this earth age, is that between Jesus Christ and Satan. It has been so from the world that was, the garden, the cross, and right through the end. Dont let the trumps and woes distract you from that one important thing. # In Chapter 11 we are told about the two witnesses. God gives them the power to work great miracles. They can stop rain from heaven and bring about the great plagues. When they finish their teaching, Antichrist (Satan) kills them and leaves their bodies in the street in Jerusalem for three and a half days until Jesus Christ resurrects them. REV 11:13 And the same hour was there a great earthquake, and the tenth part of the city fell, and in the earthquake were slain of men seven thousand: and the remnant were affrighted, and gave glory to the God of heaven. # The remnant are Gods elect. The seven thousand are Satans fallen

angels he brought with him. The rest wont even know what happened. They had been worshipping the fake Jesus and had watched as he destroyed the two witnesses, his two worst enemies, or so they thought. REV 11:14 The second woe is past; and behold, the third woe cometh quickly. # The two witnesses have risen and now the second woe is past. There is one left. REV 11:15 And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of His Christ; and He shall reign for ever and ever. # The third woe IS the seventh trump. It is the consummation of this earth age and the beginning of the millennium reign. Why is this a woe? Dont you remember those that prayed for the mountains to fall on them? Christs return will not be a happy day for very many. # The witnessing takes place during the second woe Not only the work of the TWO witnesses but yours also. Then comes the third woe and its all over. There seems to be quite a gap between them but there isnt. When the trumps begin sounding, particularly after Satans appearance on earth, they will pass quite rapidly. He only has five months. # The witnessing that takes place throughout that second woe torments Satan and his army. So much so that his attack intensifies with each trump sounded after his arrival. Many years before Johns Revelation, the clarification of the sequence of these woes was given to a prophet to record, and it was spoken again on Pentecost day. Those souls that remained in Jerusalem as instructed by Christ, waiting for that which was promised, received the Holy Spirit on Pentecost Day. The Spirit spoke through them with a cloven tongue, which is to say that went out to each in his own language. What a miracle took place on that day. Men of all languages heard to their own understanding what the Spirit said through these disciples. This was so amazing that men called them drunk. Many people today babble along in confusion because theyve been told its the only way to receive the Holy Spirit, and after all, even the disciples sounded drunk. God forbid! The men called them drunk for WHAT they said, not HOW they spoke it. # Peter tried to tell them this is that spoken of by Joel... which is to say, this is what Joel was talking about. They brought forth the priceless message of warning letting you know how Satan and his army would try to accomplish their goal. JOEL 2:25 And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath

eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpillar, and the pa!merworm, My great army which I sent among you. # God will restore all things to His people following Satans run of destruction. He tells us here that He sent the locust army. Are you afraid? You shouldnt be. Our Father is totally in control. He told them not to harm a hair on your head, and He wont tolerate it. JOEL 2:26 And ye shall eat in plenty, and be satisfied, and praise the name of the Lord your God, That hath dealt wondrously with you: and My People shall never be ashamed. JOEL 2:28 And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out My spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions: JOEL 2:29 And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour Out My spirit. # This is the cloven tongue that was spoken on Pentecost day. The circumcision is no longer just for men, as God has plainly spoken. It is a circumcision of the heart and encompasses women as well. But, what did they speak on that Day of Pentecost? Lets clarify the mystery of the sequence of the trumps and woes. JOEL 1:2 Hear this, ye old men, and give ear, all ye inhabitants of the land. Hath this been in your days, or even in the days of your fathers? # The events about to be spoken had not happened yet nor would happen until our near future. Joel 1:3 Tell ye your children of it, and let your children tell their children, and their children another generation # This was a vision of God given to Joel. He said to pass it down through the generations so it will be remembered and understood at the time of the end. This is why Peter said, They arent drunk, this is that spoken of by Joel.... JOEL 1:4 That which the palmerworm hath left hath the locust eaten; and that which the locust hath left hath the cankerworm eateth; and that which the cankerworm hath left hath the caterpillar eaten. # Notice that the order isnt the same as God listed before. The locust was listed first before for emphasis because it is the most destructive. These four stages of the locust ARE Satans method of war. The beauty of this verse is lost in the English, but the Hebrew shows the completeness of Satans destroying forces:

Gnawers remnant, Swarmer eats: Swarmers remnant, Devourer eats; Devourers remnant, Consumer eats. # The third trump is when Satan is cast out of heaven and first appears on this earth. # The fourth trump signifies the beginning of Satans action through the Gnawers. They dont do much harm in their early stage, just one third of the people. # The fifth trump brings on the Swarmers. This is a dreadful and damaging attack, as the locusts swarm to the point that their smoke covers the earth. At this point the warning is sounded, Woe, woe, woe, and the first woe is being fulfilled. # The sixth trump is the Devourer. The method in which Satan escalates his attacks are rapid and destructive. Anyone left with doubts at this point as to who is who and what is going on will be devoured. We are told in Revelation 9:12 the first woe is past and the second upon us. # The Consumer begins the seventh. Armageddon and Hamongog are within moments from happening. And then our Lord Jesus Christ returns and His enemies shall be made His footstool. # Gods description of the Gnawer through the Consumer gives us the stages through which will come that great and terrible army as well as Satans method of operation. We must remember, however, that the army is headed by Satan yet it is Gods army. They fulfill the negative part of His plan which is the correction of His children in this earth age. His elect, who were chosen before the foundations of this world (Romans 11) shouldnt fear, because the army can not harm them. The woes are not directed at them, but to prepare them. To have the seal of God is to have the volume of His Truth, which is His Word, in your mind. I dont mean memorize it verse by verse, but to know His plan and be aware to recognize His signs as your Father brings them to pass. Thank Him every day for the wisdom, understanding, and love He blesses you with. As the birth-pains of the coming age draw this earth age to a close, Just remember, in Christ, we have the victory.
