MY MODERN DAY HERO

HOPE IN THE FACE OF UNCERTAINTIES.

A teen was standing in front of a coffin looking at the body lying inside
it. He was there to pay a visit to a friend and enjoy a couple of hours through
gambling. He looked intently at the dead body and thought, where will it end
up? If he dies someday, where will he go? That's the beginning of how Ptr.
Richard Zamora had realized his aspirations.

Admired by the people surrounding him, Ptr. Richard Zamora is a role

model for some young people. He has displayed the characteristic of being
responsible and faithful toward his devotion to the Lord. He never doubted his
desire to become a servant of God and be of use to the ministry. He is not a
saint, but he possessed the qualities that could touch the lives of others.

He was born into a non-well off family and pursued his theological and
secular degree through his hard work by engaging in various part-time jobs.
"When I was in high school, I always thought of what I will become until I
finally realized that deep within me, I wanted to impart my knowledge to
everyone and consider that our lives here are just temporary when I saw a
body lying inside a coffin. That's when it hit me. I wanted to become a
preacher.", Ptr. Richard stated. After he got his theological degree from
Maranatha Christian College, he continued preaching in Mt. Sinai Bible Church
and conducted outreach programs in several areas.

Why is he considered a hero to someone who has given up life? Not

everyone knows his existence, but for someone who made an impact on
others is remarkable. He was the one who helped a young mind clouded with
doubts and worries about herself and what come tomorrow. He made her
realize the potential and worth within herself. When she was on the verge of
uncertainty, and her family could not even understand it, he introduced her to
something that she always yearned for, A HOPE, which she found in the Word
of God. It saved her from her drowning moments.

Indeed, not all heroes wear capes. While someone is struggling, words
of comfort and encouragement are at best. Words are a powerful tool to
change a life. May it be on a positive or on a negative note. IT IS THE
REALITY.
