Human -Interest Feature Story and Character Sketch.

Compare and contrast photojournalism and


MELC/Curriculum Code photography. (SPJ7VST-IVab85)

 Photography is the art, process, or job of taking photographs using


a camera or filming something.

It is evident especially in modern life where everything is


nearly captured in camera as a form of communication and
documentation.

 Photojournalism is the work of gathering and preparing news


stories using mainly photographs, especially in a magazine.

Like photography, it is mainly telling a story, but the pictures


or photos taken are highly specialized for illustrations in
publication.

Photography and photojournalism have a square-rectangle


relationship. Photojournalism is photography, but photography is
not necessarily photojournalism.

 Subject in photojournalism and photography refers to a person or


thing that is the main feature of a picture or photograph, or that a

As a learner in Special Program in Journalism (SPJ) class, you will
soon capture school activities or events that may be featured in your school
publication. Begin exploring your ability today as a photographer and discover
your creativity in taking good photos.

Capture photos which are examples of photography and


photojournalism. The subject or theme for photography is nature (plants, flowers,
trees, etc.) and for photojournalism is livelihood (work or job). You may use any
camera accessible to you. Then, pick your best shot as an example for
photography and another for photojournalism. You may choose to frame your
output.
