Best Piece of Work 11th Grade-Reflective Essay

The piece of work that I choose is my “Harlem Renaissance Art Analysis”, I did

this project in 11th grade fo the literature class, it is a presentation were I explain who

was Aaron Douglas and why he was an important member of the movement Harlem

Renaissance.

I chose this piece of work because I like art and this project is about the “Harlem

Renaissance”. The Harlem Renaissance was an intellectual and cultural revival of African

American music, dance, art, fashion, literature, theater, politics and scholarship centered

in Harlem, Manhattan, New York City, spanning the 1920s and 1930s. I found this very

interesting because it was such a big movement in those years and the movement mixes a

lot of types of arts.

Another reason why I chose this project is because I needed to find information

about Aaron Douglas, where he was born, where he died, what he studied, where he

studied, why he was important for the movement of Harlem Renaissance, and his

bibliography basically. For the project I cited three sources. I did the research on the

internet because it is the easiest way to find information quickly. I don't think this is my

best work because we had a few classes to finish the presentation. I think I have done

better presentations where we had more time.
