Topic: The importance of strict gun legislations to control people’s access to firearms.
Thesis Statement:
The widespread use of firearms in many nations highlights the urgent need for tight gun laws to limit
the public's access to weapons. Such steps are essential because they might considerably lower the
amount of gun-related fatalities, injuries, and crimes that take place every day. Tight gun restrictions
make it harder for criminals, mentally ill individuals, and other high-risk individuals to acquire firearms,
hence reducing the possibility of mass shootings and other gun-related crimes. Also, because weapons
are frequently kept in unlocked cabinets in homes with children, these restrictions aid in preventing
unintentional shootings.

GRADE AND SECTION: 10 – PATIENCE ESSAY
The importance of strict gun legislations to control people’s access to firearms.
The widespread use of firearms in many nations highlights the urgent need for tight gun laws to limit the public's access to
weapons. Such steps are essential because they might considerably lower the amount of gun-related fatalities, injuries, and
crimes that take place every day. Tight gun restrictions make it harder for criminals, mentally ill individuals, and other high-
risk individuals to acquire firearms, hence reducing the possibility of mass shootings and other gun-related crimes. Also,
because weapons are frequently kept in unlocked cabinets in homes with children, these restrictions aid in preventing
unintentional shootings.
Strict gun legislation is crucial in controlling people's access to firearms and reducing the incidence of gun violence. The
availability of firearms poses a significant threat to public safety, and strong regulations can help prevent the proliferation of
firearms in illegal markets. To preserve the safety of everyone and to deter any crime that may occur, strict gun legislations
can be implemented to keep people out of circulation.
Widespread and easy access to several firearms endanger everyone’s safety, be it through accidents, homicides, suicides,
and other crime-related implications. The only people who should have the right to wield such firearms should be regularly
expected to have a proper license, proper registration, and criminal record, in order to prevent freak accidents from
occurring. Competency, safety, and background should all be considered when allowing citizens to wield firearms and
limiting the variety of what people can wield depending on how they use it is important as well. Logging everyone’s access
to firearms, and where product and service goes should be another safety measure to make sure that no weapons go
unchecked. Gun violence is an important issue that we need to tackle head strong and acknowledging the rights and
capabilities of people wielding firearms are important to avoid the issue altogether.
Multiple studies support the case of having better or tighter regulations in gun control. In a study conducted by the Centers
for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), more Americans died from gun-related injuries in 2020, more than any other
year on record. Data shows that 45,222 people have died from gun-related injuries, whether self-inflicted, or not. America,
being the country possessing the most lenient, is a clear indication of gun violence being prevalent, where regulation isn’t.
Next is how it also goes to show how society is affected by these gun restrictions, reports from the Indicators of School
Crime and Safety: 2021, show that there were 93 school shooting in America during the School Year of 2020-2021 alone.
Which is the highest the number has ever been, in 20 years. All 93 cases have casualties, and injuries. Lastly, it can also
be recognized that according to a global study conducted by the Global Burden of Disease group, homicides reached a
number of 415,000 in the year 2019 more so than both Terrorism, and Armed Conflict combined.
Crime in allowing citizens to possess firearms will always be evident in our society, no matter what restrictions we place
onto the people, through illegal or irregular means, they will find ways to possess dangerous weaponry for their intentions
and such. The most we can do is allow people to carry firearms as a means of self-defense, and as a way to protect others
from harm as well. Competent people know what to do when wielding firearms and giving them their freedom to exercise
their right as such, can relieve governing bodies from mandating tighter security in towns. Preserving and protecting the
lives of people who cannot protect themselves through regular means is what firearms can do, they give people safety to
sleep in their own home, to ensure that whatever danger walks into their doorstep, they can handle whilst authorities help
them.
However, clear indications of the correlation to registered firearms and homicides are evident in multiple studies, simply
giving everyone firearms will not fix the root problem, which is the mandating, and logging the rights and regulations that the
people have in carrying firearms. Authoritative figures can impose their power of protecting the citizens, without the citizens
having to expose themselves to the possibility of fighting another for one’s safety. Gun control is essential as our society
progresses due to how violence can breed in our society, the preservation of life can still be observed through other means,
and the act of being law-abiding citizens help deter crime. The morality in carrying firearms is something that needs to be
checked and people with psychological problems need proper study as to whether or not they are fit to carry such firearms.
Tight legislations can help us reduce the amount of crime done using firearms and can reduce the amount of accidents it
can cause as well. Endangering everyone by letting freedom of use take over rather than governing over people will always
end in disaster. It’s inhumane to allow people to carry items that possess the ability to take another’s life. Normalizing the

stigma that everyone shouldn’t be allowed to carry firearms will create a safer, and healthy society.

LESSON
When choosing a topic for informative writing, focus on a specific topic. Consider the
topic that is not too broad or too narrow. A topic is too broad if you cannot explain it in one
or two pages. For example, you cannot choose special education as the topic because it
has a big scope. Rather, you can be more specific and select causes of hearing-
impairment as your topic. On the other hand, a topic is too narrow when it is very simple
and can be explained in a sentence or a short paragraph.
Just like any type of writing, informative texts follow a structure – the introduction,
body, and conclusion.
THE INTRODUCTION
Aside from stating the thesis statement, writers introduce the main idea, provide
definition for difficult words/concepts, and give a short description on what will be discussed.
THE BODY
The body or the middle part is where the thesis statement is fully explained. Evidence
such as facts, statistics, statements from experts, and other supporting details are found in
this section. This section requires citing sources of information. The evidence presented will be
the basis if the information is reliable, accurate, and unbiased.
THE CONCLUSION
The conclusion reiterates the thesis statement and summarizes the main points of the
informative text. No new evidence must be presented at this point because all ideas must
have already been discussed in the body.

Aside from the structure, other features and techniques of informative writing need to
be considered. First is tone or attitude of the author toward the topic. The attitude of the
author toward the topic should always be formal, objective, and neutral. As mentioned
above, informative writing is fact-based - biased information is unacceptable. The writer’s
opinion and beliefs do not have a place in informative writing. Second, always be specific.
Provide clear answers to the five Ws and one H of the topic you are writing about. Employ
language that is clear, formal, and unbiased. Also, do not forget to use transitional words
(discussed in previous modules) for organized and smooth flow of ideas. In doing so, readers
can get a better understanding of the information they read.
Informative essays vary in length, but all good informative pieces are a product of an
application of several writing techniques. Below are some of the best tips/techniques to help
you write an excellent informative text.
1. Open with an attention grabber and conclude with a summary of the main points
of the essay.
2. Use appropriate transitional words to ensure the logical flow of ideas.
3. Observe formal tone.
4. Utilize proper language and applicable vocabulary to the topic. Similarly, avoid biased
language.
5. Make use of formatting, nonlinear texts such as flowcharts, graphs, graphic
organizers, and digital texts with hyperlinks when needed.
