FAILED STATE

 The meaning of failed state is complete collapse of state and its institutions and eventually disintegration.
 Once sate is failed it has very low chances of turning back to stability.
 In this condition state is not able to perform its basic functions of security (external, internal), and development
(basic needs of people are not provided i.e., food, healthcare, education)
 That state would not have authority over its territory and borders.
 Disintegration is the main indicator of the failure of a state.
When state fails:
 State fails mainly because of failure of external and internal security of the state.

There are two main factors of the failure of a state.

i) INTERNAL.
ii) EXTERNAL.

 Internal factors are more important than the external factors.


 Foreign actors can destabilize a state by intervention but state fails because of its own factors i.e.; cultural, ethnic,
security conflicts.
 If a state fails its neighboring states would involve to stop the spillover effects of its crisis.
