ABSTRACT

This Industrial training report presents the experience garnered during my 1 months of
industrial training undertaken at Shree Raj Auto. Services, Phaltan district Satara. My
training was on the diagnosis, repairs, maintenance in automobile vehicles ranging from
Shine sp, shine and unicorn. During this period, I acquired practical knowledge on how to
repair, replace and install some mechanical parts and systems also assisted in providing the
units the functionality they need. This report discusses the technical skills gained during the
training period and justifying the relevance of the scheme in equipping students with needed
technical competence to thrive in the real world

CHAPTER 2:

2.1. METHODOLOGICAL DETAILS

Operations Performed

2.1.1.Air Filter

Replacing the Air Filter

Bike Air Filters just like nose of our Human Body. They Filter out all the unwanted
Particles in the air before it enters the engine, allowing only clean and pure air inside for
better combustion. This results in better efficiency and smooth power delivery.

Why we should change air filter in Bike?

Dirty air filters eventually result in poor fuel economy, loss of power and rough idling.
Dirty filter is going to rob your engine of power and put dentin your fuel mileage. That’s
why air filter is supposed to be replaced after 10,000–15,000Kms.

2.1.2.Carburettor

Carburettor is a device that mixes air and fuel for internal combustion engines in an
appropriate air-fuel ratio for combustion. Fuel injection technology has largely supplanted
carburettors in the automotive and to a lesser extent, aviation industries. Carburettors are
Still Common in small engines for dirt bike sand lawn owners and other equipment.

Why Carburettor gets dirty?

Dirt gets there from the gas tank or from the gas can used to transfer fuel to the tank. Rust,
varnish build-up from gasoline that has sat too long or dirt from the environment can
wreck havoc if it reaches the Carburettor. Even tiny particles of debris are enough to clog
the ports of Carburettor jets.

Department of Mechanical Engineering, SCoE [2022-23] 11
2.1.3.Cleaning of Carburettor
Just like cholesterol in the heart, if dirt and gummy fuel residue bog down a Carburettor,
performance is hindered or the engine fails. Maintain efficient operations by keeping up
with cleaning.

2.1.4.Wheel bearing
A Wheel bearing is a crucial part of the wheel assembly that connects the wheel and the
axle. It is a Set of steel balls (Ball Bearings) or Tapers (Tapered Bearings, held together by a
metal ring. It enables the wheel to rotate smoothly with a minimum friction.

What causes wheel bearings to go bad?

Frequently driving through mud, water or road or salt can cause wheel bearing
malfunction. Contaminants can get past the seals and enter the bearings, which pollutes the
grease and damages the bearings.

What happens if I don’t replace Wheel Bearing?

If you don’t replace a damaged wheel bearing before it fails completely, the wheel will
completely seize up. If this happens while you’re driving, the results can be catastrophic.
What Happens when wheel bearing goes?
If your wheel bearing fails, it can cause a wheel to stop while you are driving or possibly
even to fall off. At the very least, before a wheel falls off, a failed wheel bearing can
cause significant damage to your vehicle, so it very important to keep an eye on these
and keep them maintained.

2.1.5.Spark Plug
A Spark plug has a metal threaded shell, electrically isolated from a central electrode by a
ceramic insulator. The Central electrode which may contain a resistor is connected by a
heavily insulated wire to the output terminal of an ignition coil or magneto. The Spark plugs
shell is screwed into the engine’s cylinder head and thus electrically grounded.

Spark Plug

Signs your spark plug is failing?

• Engine has a rough idle: If your spark plug is failing your engine will sound rough
and jittery when idle.

• Trouble starting. Bike won’t start and you were late for work flat battery.
• Engine Misfiring
• Engine Surging.
• High Fuel Consumption
• Lack of Acceleration.

Signs indicate that you have to change spark plug

The signs of bad motorcycle plug include your motorcycle misfiring, backfiring or
frequently having a flooded engine.
You can also look for the physical signs on the spark plugs themselves. This may include
burn marks, broken tips, rust and corrosion.
Weak Spark Effect

Internship Training Report, TE Mech 2019 Course,

Department of Mechanical Engineering, SCoE [2022-23] 14
A weak spark or no spark problem may originate within one or more common ignition
system components. Worn or damaged spark plug wire insulation. At high temperature, this
problem can produce bucking or misfires.

Spark Plug Chart

• Changing spark plug regularly helps ensure that your engine runs smoothly.

CHAPTER 3:

3.1.Engine Oil Change

In this Picture we are removing dirty and overheated In this operation we are filling new
oil. That can affect engine performance. clean oil, to improve performance.

Without the regular changing of bike’s engine oil, the engine can get overheated, friction
between its moving parts can increase, and overall performance can suffer. Also the fuel
efficiency of the bike can decrease.

How often should motorcycle engine oil changed?

If mineral based motor oil was used, it should be changed around 2000 miles. Semi –
Synthetic motor oil should be changed every 5000 to 6000 miles, While Fully Synthetic
motor oil only needs to be changed 7000 to 10000 miles.

Which Engine Oil is best for Motorcycle?

There are so many oil brands available at market but these 5 are best for motorcycles,

• Motul 30004T plus 20W -40 Mineral engine Oil.

• Shell Advance AX520W-40 Mineral engine Oil.
• Motul Scooter LE 10W30 Engine oil.

3.2.Oil Filter
An oil filter is a filter designed to remove contaminants from engine oil, transmission oil,
Lubricating oil or hydraulic oil.

When should change the oil filter of the Bike?

On most bikes, it is highly recommended to change the oil filter every 2000 to 3000 miles,
If you are using synthetic motor oil, it is good idea to change the oil filter every time you
change the oil. The oil filter will help keep your oil clean.

What happens if oil filter is not changed?

If the oil filter is not changed periodically, the filter can become severely clogged, reducing
the volume of oil passing through the filter and into your engine. Without this oil filter, your
engine can suffer Severe Damage.

advantages to the practical trainees.

The treatment by the company was just, equitable and professional. I've learned from
different units and people. I am grateful and thankful to my manager & facility from Shree
Raj Auto Phaltan. They also help me to handle some of my weaknesses and provided
guidance to me whenever I am in need. I think the six weeks duration for the internship was
not enough for me to learn more in details about the jobs. I hope this experience will surely
help me in my future and also in shaping my career
