Rough Draft of Main Paper

My Reasearch topic would be the weather to how abnormal or unconvincing to predict. Weather can be varied and unexplainable to the tragedies it causes and

distractions it produces. (GOOGLE). “

Extreme events are occurrences of unusually severe weather or climate

conditions that can cause devastating impacts on communities and agricultural and natural

ecosystems. Weather-related extreme events are often short-lived and include heat waves,

freezes, heavy downpours, tornadoes, tropical cyclones, and floods.” (Google.) “Abnormal

weather is weather that is not typical

Other words for abnormal are atypical, unusual, anomalous, and uncharacteristic. Abnormal

weather refers to any situation where it is not typically expected. It also can refer to stormy

weather. Each location has an average high and low temperature.” (Google) (Stormy adjective)

“is an English word that is used to describe severe weather conditions. (Google) There are many

diverse types of weather conditions. The five main types of weather are: sunny, cloudy, windy,

rainy, and stormy. Below you will find out about the different weather types we experience

daily because of the global weather system.” (Google) “Volcanic lightning is truly a wonder to

behold, and it's possibly the rarest weather phenomenon of this intensity you will encounter –

mainly because it can only occur when a thunderstorm meets an erupting volcano.”

“Tornadoes are a type of extreme weather. They are vertical funnels of rapidly spinning air.

Tornadoes include clouds, strong wind, rain, and sometimes hail. They move at speeds of about
16 to 32 kilometers (about 19.88 mi) per hour (10 to 20 miles per hour), and their winds can top

402 kilometers (about the length of New York State) per hour (250 miles per hour”).

(Google) “Tornado: clouds, strong wind, rain, hail” Hail forms when a thunderstorm updraft lifts
a water droplet above the freezing level in the atmosphere. The frozen water droplet then
accretes super-cooled water or water vapor, which freezes once it meets the frozen droplet.
This process causes hailstones to grow. “Tornado: clouds, strong wind, rain, hail” Tornado - A
violently rotating column of air touching the ground, usually attached to the base of a
thunderstorm. Tornadoes are nature's most violent storms. Spawned by powerful
thunderstorms, tornadoes can cause fatalities and devastate a neighborhood in seconds. A
cloud is made of water drops or ice crystals floating in the sky. There are many kinds of clouds.
Clouds are an important part of Earth's weather, weather. Strong, wind is the movement of air,
caused by the uneven heating of the Earth by the sun and the Earth's own rotation. Winds
range from light breezes to natural hazards such as hurricanes and a tornadoes Rain is
Precipitation is any liquid or frozen water that forms in the atmosphere and falls to Earth. Hail is
precipitation that is formed when updrafts in thunderstorms carry raindrops upward into
extremely cold areas of the atmosphere. Hail can damage aircraft, homes, and cars, and can be
deadly to livestock and people."Hurricane or cyclone: strong wind, heavy rain” Hurricanes,
cyclones, and typhoons are all the same things. All three are storm systems with winds
exceeding 119km (about 73.94 mi)/h (74 mph). The name differs based on where the storm
happens. Strong Wind consists of damaging winds, often originating from thunderstorms,
classified as exceeding 58 mph.Definition of Heavy Rain/Snow : Rainfall/Snowfall greater than
or equal to 50 mm in past 24 hours.“Dust storm: intense winds, arid conditions ”Dust storms
are usually caused by thunderstorms – or intense pressure gradients associated with cyclones –
which increase wind speed over a wide area. These intense winds lift substantial amounts of
sand and dust from bare, dry soils into the atmosphere, transporting them hundreds to
thousands of kilometers away.Intense winds consist of damaging winds, often originating from
thunderstorms, classified as Arid regions receive little precipitation—less than 10 inches (25
centimeters) of rain per year. Semi-arid regions receive 10 to 20 inches (25 to 50 centimeters)
of rain per year exceeding 58mph. "Flood: heavy rainfall”Flood: An overflow of water onto
normally dry land. The inundation of a normally dry area caused by rising water in an existing
waterway, such as a river, stream, or drainage ditch. Rainfall, is classified as light, meaning rain
falling at a rate between a trace and 0.10 inch per hour; moderate, 0.11 to 0.30 inch per hour;
heavy, more than 0.30 inch per hour “Hailstorm: cold or warm rain, ice ”Hailstorms form when
a thunderstorm updraft lifts a water droplet above the freezing level in the atmosphere. The
frozen water droplet then accretes super-cooled water or water vapor, which freezes once it
encounters the frozen droplet. “Warm rain” refers to rain derived from non-ice-phase
processes in clouds. It is formed primarily by coalescence of water droplets of assorted sizes as
they fall at different terminal velocities within the clouds. Warm rain processes are prevalent in
marine clouds. If the surface temperature is above 32°F and there is warmer than freezing air
above the surface, then you will get just freezing rain. It will not freeze at the ground but will
certainly feel cold, especially if temperatures are between 32 and 40 degrees. Ice The freezing
point is the temperature at which a liquid turn to a solid. The freezing point at which water a
liquid turn to ice a solid is 32°F (0C)Ice storm: freezing rain "An Ice Storm is a freezing rain
situation (rain that freezes on surface contact) with significant ice accumulations of 0.25 inches
or greater.Freezing Rain, Sleet (Ice Pellets) are frozen raindrops that strike the earth's surface.
In a sleet situation the precipitation aloft when it is first generated will be snow. The snow falls
through a layer that is a little above freezing and the snow partially melts.
