Topic: Polynomial
Function

What is Polynomial?
It is an expression that consists indeterminate, and coefficients. It only involves
operations like addition, subtraction, multiplication and positive integers power of
variables

What is Polynomial Function?

It is a mathematical expression that is constructed with constants and variables.
There are 5 kinds of Polynomial Function and these are: Constant, Linear,
Quadratic, Cubic and, Quaartic.

Examples:
Constant Function
- Constant Function is a function which it has the same value for f(x) whatever the x
is.
f(x) = 0, f(x) = 1, f(x) = π, f(x) = −0.

Linear Function
- Has a straight like function and has an equation of the form of y = ax + b, a and b
are constants while x is any real number.
y = 3x - 2

Quadratic Function
- A function where the form is f(x) = ax^2 + bx + c. It also has a curve path that is
called parabola.
f(x) = 4x^ + 2x - 5

Cubic Function
- Function of degree 3 and its basic function is: f(x) = x^3. Its one form is f(x) = ax3 +
bx2 + cx + d.
4x3 + 57 = 0. x3 + 9x = 0

Quartic Function
- Function of degree 4, the highest exponent is 4. The form is
f(x)=ax^{4}+bx^{3}+cx^{2}+dx+e.
3x^4+2x^3+x^2-5x+1
3 Things I learned from this Lesson
• There are 5 kinds of Polynomial
function.
• The higher the exponent the harder it
gets.
• Not all the same.

2 Things I will do to apply what I’ve

learned
• I can apply it when I go to college.
• Knowing this lesson and having a
background on it this young is really
helpful. I can use this knowledge in the
near future.
