Topic: Polynomial
Function
What is Polynomial?
It is an expression that consists indeterminate, and coefficients. It only involves
operations like addition, subtraction, multiplication and positive integers power of
variables
Examples:
Constant Function
- Constant Function is a function which it has the same value for f(x) whatever the x
is.
f(x) = 0, f(x) = 1, f(x) = π, f(x) = −0.
Linear Function
- Has a straight like function and has an equation of the form of y = ax + b, a and b
are constants while x is any real number.
y = 3x - 2
Quadratic Function
- A function where the form is f(x) = ax^2 + bx + c. It also has a curve path that is
called parabola.
f(x) = 4x^ + 2x - 5
Cubic Function
- Function of degree 3 and its basic function is: f(x) = x^3. Its one form is f(x) = ax3 +
bx2 + cx + d.
4x3 + 57 = 0. x3 + 9x = 0
Quartic Function
- Function of degree 4, the highest exponent is 4. The form is
f(x)=ax^{4}+bx^{3}+cx^{2}+dx+e.
3x^4+2x^3+x^2-5x+1
3 Things I learned from this Lesson
• There are 5 kinds of Polynomial
function.
• The higher the exponent the harder it
gets.
• Not all the same.
