PARADE RULES – GIRLS SCOUTS ORGANIZATION

1. All troops must register through the Girl Scouts Service Unit Specialist so that all Girl Scouts are
able to sign up and participate in this year’s parade to be held on March 12th, 2023.

2. Once all groups have registered via the Service Unit Specialist, the list will be forwarded to the
parade organizers two weeks in advance of the parade. The parade committee will then assign
meeting locations for the day of the parade and forward this information to the Girl Scouts
Service Unit Specialist so that the information can be disseminated to all groups registered to
march one (1) week before the parade date.

3. It is recommended that Troop Leaders make a sign with their troop number on it so that the troop
can be announced and recognized as they march.

4. Parade arrival time for marchers is between 12:00 PM and 1:00 PM. Please make sure you arrive
at your designated meeting place before 1:00 PM as the parade will start promptly at 1:30 PM.

5. All Girl Scout troops have to stand and march with their assigned groups (Ex. All Daisies in a
group, All Brownies in a group, etc.) If any parent is not comfortable with having siblings
separated in the staging area, they are encouraged not to march. Any parent who refuses to
follow the instructions of the parade volunteers will be removed by the police department and
will not be allowed to participate in future parades.

6. No buses or cars will be permitted to park on streets used to lineup the parade units. All
transportation units (buses, vans, etc.) are not permitted in the line of march. The transportation
buses/vans will discharge passengers at assigned locations and proceed to a designated parking
area at the end of the parade route.

7. Intoxication or disorderly conduct in the line of the march will NOT be tolerated or permitted.

8. For safety reasons, THE THROWING OF CANDY OR ANY OTHER ITEMS IS AGAINST
THE LAW (NJ 39:4-64) and the fine is $226. This rule will be enforced and violators will
be requested to pull out of the parade.

9. No political statements, banners, or images of any kind are permitted.

10. Marchers are to stay in formation until they reach the end of the parade on Mountain Avenue.

11. Poor behavior may result in a volunteer’s and/or Girl Scout’s inability to participate in the parade
in the future.
