Dear Hiring Manager,

It is my pleasure to write to you today to personally recommend Samantha “Sam” Aydin for a position as
a new graduate Registered Nurse in your organization. I was fortunate to have Sam as my student during her last
semester at the University of Arizona College of Nursing. During her final semester with us, Sam spent 180 hours
growing into the role of the professional nurse during a preceptorship in the Medical ICU at Oro Valley Hospital
here in Tucson. Throughout the experience,

I think if you ask anyone that has encountered Sam, they will tell you that her strongest trait as a nurse
and a human being is her ability to communicate and build a rapport with absolutely anyone that she encounters.
So often we see new nurses who are incapable of or unsure of how to build the relationship and the rapport
required to develop the nurse-patient/physician/team relationship that is detrimental to outcomes. This is where
Sam shines – which is appropriate given that her middle name is Shyne. Her ability to put her patients at ease,
communicate respectfully with all disciplines, and advocate fiercely what she knows is right can all be attributed to
the compassion she has for the communities and populations that she serves.

Sam’s resiliency and dedication to this profession and her studies, both current and undoubtedly
continued after her graduation, are so necessary to this profession where we know that change is constant, and
burnout is real. Sam’s mindfulness regarding herself and her abilities, both personally and professionally, shows in
her dedication to her education, her desire to cultivate new learning opportunities for herself, and her willingness
to admit that she doesn’t know everything – but will never stop trying to learn it all.

It's safe to say that Sam is someone who has a lot to offer your organization, even as a new graduate
registered nurse. She has proven herself calm, capable, and confident in a high acuity setting, and ensures that
every patient, regardless of race, ethnicity, sex, gender, religious affiliation, socioeconomic status, or ability, is
treated with dignity, respect, and compassion throughout her interactions with them. Thank you for taking the
time to consider Sam for this position within your organization. I am confident in saying that hiring Sam is the best
decision that you could make this week.

Sincerely,

Sarah Hoogasian, MSN-Ed, RN, CPEN
