The document is an internal test for a fluid power control class that contains two questions worth 5 marks each. The first question asks to sketch and explain the working of a gear pump. The second question provides details about an oil tank system and asks to calculate the pressure at a specific station given the oil tank is pressurized, pump flow rate, oil properties, pipe diameter, length and assumed pressure drop across a strainer. The test is out of 20 total marks and contains two analysis questions related to hydraulic components and system calculations.

Subject: FLUID POWER CONTROL Class: B.E., Sem VIII
Internal Test 3 Max. Marks:20
1) A) With neat sketch explain working of gear pump (5 marks)
2) A) The oil tank for a hydraulic system (shown in Fig. 1.5) has the following details: (5 marks) (a) The oil tank is air pressurized at 68.97 kPa gauge pressure. (b) The inlet to the pump is 3.048 m below the oil level. (c) The pump flow rate is 0.001896 m3/s. (d) The specific gravity of oil is 0.9. (e) The kinematic viscosity of oil is 100 cS. (f) Assume that the pressure drop across the strainer is 6.897 kPa. (g) The pipe diameter is 38.1 mm. (h) The total length of the pipe is 6.097 m. Find the pressure at station 2.
