My experience through MCO

The Covid-19 is part of the ongoing worldwide pandemic of caused by a virus. Covid-

19 had spread across the globe in just half a year after only a few cases were
identified and confirmed last December. It is undeniable that Covid-19 has
transformed the lives of humans everywhere. The Covid-19 pandemic spiked on
Malaysia on 18th March 2020. In response, the government had taken immediate
measures to keep the Malaysian citizens safe by introducing the movement control
order (MCO). Businesses and services which deemed to be non-essential were shut
down including schools and universities. This had forced everyone to stay at home
and adapt to this new norm.

During the early stages of the MCO I personally found it quite hard as all my plans
and outings had to be cancelled. Unfortunately, I was supposed to join a part time
job to gain new experiences and also as a source of income for myself but due to the
MCO I couldn’t. Since the government announced it for only two weeks I had hopes
and it didn’t seem that bad at first but eventually days turned to weeks which then
turned to months.

Currently, one month had already passed and I didn’t want to waste my time by
doing nothing so I decided to take the MCO situation into my advantage and stared
doing productive things. Firstly, I helped my mom in the kitchen with a few dishes
since there are no restaurants available. In the past couple of weeks, I got to spend
more time with my family then before as everyone would always be so busy that we
never had enough time for each other. We would play badminton inside our house
compound, play video games and even did some spring cleaning at home.

Besides that, I was also quite packed up in finding colleges and universities to get
myself registered even though the MCO was still ongoing .I was quite fixed on what I
wanted to do so it wasn’t a big issue to get into college. Classes were starting in May
and I was quite excited at the same time worried. The number of cases for the covid-
19 kept increasing drastically thus we had to proceed with online classes. Most of my
classes were carried on by Zoom or either Microsoft Teams. There were a few
challenges faced by having online classes for example some of my classmates had
difficulty with their internet connection and sometimes we won’t be able to hear quite
one another clearly due to that. Those were a few minor challenges most of us
faced. On the other hand, there were also some advantages to it like no exams and
not having to wake up so early for classes but overall, it was a new experience for
me.
