Report Template

Industrial training is an integral part of the Applied Bachelor in Aerospace / Avionics / Mechanical
program. The main objective of the training is to complement the modules given in classroom with
on-the-job training; in order to develop both the technical and generic skills of the students.
Trainees must spend five months on a full-time basis in a designated industrial or engineering office
under the supervision of a designated faculty member (the University Supervisor), to earn practical
skills. Five reports should be submitted at the end of each month, which cover all activities carried out
by the trainee at the training site and goals achieved.

Suggested structure of a report:


To achieve the best grade, a report should consist the following sections:

Cover Page
Showing student name and ID, workshop name/title and dates starting and finishing the
workshop
Abstract (if applicable)
Abstract is report in a nutshell! It summaries the subject and scope of the report,
highlighting important results.
Nomenclature
Table of Content
Use a proper and clear name for chapters/sections/subsections including list of tables
and figure.
1. Introduction
Introduction is to provide a reason for the workshop.
Usually structure of the report is presented at the end of the introduction.
2. Theory
Provide a brief theory regarding the workshop: explaining parts and equipment that are
maintained in the workshop. Use figures and graphs to describe the parts that have been
investigated in the workshop.
3. Analysis & Discussion
Explain the relevant tools, equipment, test equipment, test procedure that are used in the
workshop.
Explain the required tasks and manuals, which are used in the workshop.
Explain safety procedures while working in the workshop.
4. Conclusions
In the final section of your report you summarise the main outcomes/findings, point out
any limitations, and offer suggestions for future.
Bibliography
Use any acceptable referencing format and cite to all references in the report.
Appendix (Log Book Scans)
Attached the soft copy of the engineer signed log book.
