The US may have been carrying out airstrikes against islamic militants since last
year but the president has asked congress to authorise military force against them.
Barack Obama said “ISA will be defeated”. He reassured the public that Usa will not
be dragged into another prolonged conflict and the solution the president found is
not the authorisation of another ground war. It is the first time a president has
sought congressional approval since George Bush and the invasion of Iraq. He also
stated that the US is united in its opposition to ISA, since it has killed american
hostages and is convinced this organisation poses a threat beyond the middle east.
