processes so that the transformation process will runs smoothly without any problems.

Transformation Process

inputs and provide outputs for customers that involve operating strategies. For
example, when the inputs are raw materials, the transformation is relatively easy to
identify, such as when high-quality spices and seasonings are transformed into curry

2

machinery that are kept clean and sanitary in accordance with good manufacturing
practises (GMP) in order to ensures that manufacturing process runs smoothly to

2.2 PRODUCT DESIGN - CHAPTER 2

Adabi Sdn Bhd can be explained in Chapter 2 which is Product Design under the
subtopic of product life cycle. Product life cycle is a period between which a product is
developed, brought to market, and removed from the market.

Introduction

Adabi Consumer Industries Sdn. Bhd first introduced fish and meat curry and followed
by other spices in 1984 which was made in a small factory located in Batu Caves Light

3
Industrial Area. This new product is not getting enough attention by the consumer
because of lack of product awareness by the consumer and the company needs to
make a good introduction of the product to their future customer. Therefore, Adabi
Sdn. Bhd. has been promoting their product on many platforms such as radio,
television, social media, billboard, and many more to catch the interest of their
customer. Other than that, Adabi product has been focused on producing a product
that suits a Malaysian taste and culture that will eventually meet their customer
satisfaction.

Growth

Since 1986, demand for the product has been rising, therefore, Adabi companies need
to transfer their factory into a larger factory which was in Taman Kepong Light
Industrial Area that will facilitate their production process in a large space. Because of
the increase in demand, eventually companies can generate more sales thus,
increasing in revenue will allow a company to expand their market and people can
recognise their brand. Moreover, Adabi Sdn. Bhd. has been upgrading their
technology that can speed up their production to meet the growing demand and to
ensure that the process goes smoothly and efficiently and also to produce a good
quality of product.

Maturity

After a few years, there have been many competitors in the market that sell the same
product as Adabi’s and this could lead to decrease in demand by the consumer. Many
customers have switched to another brand because they prefer the taste that is offered
by another brand and most of them buy a product that is easy for them to get at the
supermarket that is nearby their house. Sales of the company have dropped in these
stages because of the switching of products by the customer.

Decline

There are issues arising regarding the quality of product and poor supplies from Adabi
Sdn. Bhd. that will tarnish the good name of the company and people will try to avoid
buying their products. Profit and sales have fallen tremendously in these stages
because of the poor service from the company and the taste of people has been

4
switched. Hence, Adabi Consumer Industries Sdn. Bhd. had introduced their first
animal food in the production line that attracted people to buy their new products as
well as other products.

2.3 PROCESS STRATEGY – CHAPTER 3

Process strategy refers to an approach used by an organisation to transform or change

the inputs into outputs. The goal of a process strategy is to build a manufacturing
process that satisfies customer requests and product specifications while staying
within budgetary and other managerial restrictions. The ADABI Company used a
product focus strategy. It is the strategy that arranges the facilities according to the
products. This approach allows for a smooth production process and is suitable for
businesses that produce high volumes. Besides that, this strategy is also known as
continuous production and line flow production. The task sequence is quite rigid, the
production runs are very long and continuous, and there is a lot of specialised,
automated equipment that is frequently controlled by computers.

First of all, the ADABI Company has a big volume of products and the capacity to
produce goods in enormous amounts. The ADABI Company is most known for its
spices, which come in a range of flavours. For instance, a company that makes curry
powders needs the same ingredients, such as cinnamon, cumin, star anise, and
coriander, to make the powders in various flavours for various uses. Additionally, an
organisation is capable of creating the goods in the greatest number in accordance
with the company's goal.

Furthermore, in order to produce the goods, ADABI Company requires more

specialised machinery. This is due to the fact that the machines were not designed for
general use. Instead, the machines provide a unique role that increases equipment
utilisation. Due to the specialised functions of machines, it requires a significant capital
investment in purchasing it. For instance, in the manufacturing of spices, specific
machines are needed for operations like mixing, packaging, and printing. In other
words, more specialised equipment confines the system to the limitations of the
various equipment to only manufacturing a small number of different items, and the
machines are already programmed to produce a particular good.

5
In addition, because specialised equipment was employed in the product focus, the
ADABI Company does not need highly skilled workers to operate the machinery. To
operate the machinery and guarantee that the production process proceeds in
accordance with its flow, they only need certain employee positions. For instance, the
ADABI Company needs workers who are skilled at handling equipment. High
qualifications in operating machines are not necessary as long as the workers can
cooperate well and are diligent. In summary, in order to prevent unforeseen
occurrences, employees cannot be careless because the machines run continuously
for 24 hours.

2.4 FACILITY LOCATION – CHAPTER 5

The accurate location for a business or production facility to allow reasonable access
to consumers, employees, transportation and many other things to obtain the items to
buy may be termed as facility location.

Adabi Consumer Industries Sdn Bhd appears to have several stores around Malaysia.
Adabi first entered Malaysian homes in 1984, with the launch of several curry items.
Adabi relocated to its current location at Rawang Integrated Industrial Park in 1996
due to increased consumer demand. Its four-acre property includes the company's
manufacturing facilities, distribution centres, corporate headquarters, and
management facilities.

Furthermore, location selection is critical in operations. Adabi Consumer Sdn Bhd also
ensures that its products are available in supermarkets, shops, local stores, the
corporate website, and online platforms. As a result, Adabi connects its customers
through numerous places, both conventional and online. Adabi makes its items
available to consumers in a location where they can easily buy the products and locate
the products. Adabi products are among the most widely available. Their product is
available practically everywhere.

Adabi items, for example, can be purchased or found in a shop near the consumer's
home. Adabi delivers their goods to a store near a housing area. They want consumers
to be able to easily locate their items. Adabi makes it easy for the household,
particularly housewives, to locate ingredients for cooking. This is because the
housewife may simply obtain the supplies for cooking nearby.

6
Thus, the best location decision made by Adabi in their operation will aid to expedite
development.
