Diff/ Trans Breather Guide - Mitsubishi NS Auto Pajero

Using Billet Race Craft 4 breather kit and Windscreen washer pipe joiner nipples approx 4mm

Front diff:
If you remove the under guards and look towards the top of the front diff you will see where the
standard black breather line comes out. Rather then digging around in the engine bay it is a very
easy job to intersect the old black breather before it turns in to a metal line, simply using a nipple to
join the new breather line to the old black rubber breather line. As shown below where the new Blue
line joins the older black breather line.

Rear Diff:
If you look on top of the rear Diff it is easy to see the standard black breather line which runs straight
up and in to the floor structure of the vehicle, if you remove the breather line from the floor
structure you will then be able to use a nipple to join the new breather line to the old line as show
below where the blue line connects the old black line.
Transmission:
It is really quite hard to get a good shot of the Transmission breather but from the Drivers side of the
transmission you can see where the new breather runs up from the other lines to on top of the
transmission following a couple of larger pipes.

This picture below is taken from the rear of the vehicle looking towards the front. You can see where
the new blue breather line has come up from beside the larger pipes as shown in the previous
picture to where the Transmission breather is located. In terms of the nipple used to join these 2
pipes I cannot give a definitive size as the pipe in larger but you can get an idea of what you are
looking for from the image below.
Transfer:
After following the breather line which terminated up near where the transmission breather was
located, we found that the line actually went to a very easy location to access, at the rear of the
transfer. I Believe this breather is actually for a solenoid or something like that, but as this line was
already extended to where the transmission was, it is worth extending it right up the firewall where
the others are now located. The old Line and the bracket that it went to up with the Transmission
breather has now been removed as it is no longer required.
Running the breathers under the car and mounting the breather filters in the engine bay:
When running the breather lines under the Vehicle it is important to keep them up as high as
possible to keep them from being caught on sticks etc. the other thing to remember that where
possible try and avoid running the lines against very hot surfaces, an ideal place to run the lines to
the back is using zip ties to attach to the top of the fuel tank guard. When running the lines up to the
engine bay you will also want to avoid running the lines to close to the exhaust. Once you have the
lines up in to the engine bay, you are ready to mount the cluster of filters. If you are using the Billet
Race Craft breather set you will find a bolt which you can use on the top of the fire wall as shown in
the picture below, in order to get access to fit it to this location you will want to remove the engine
cover.

Hope this helps a little for anybody interested in doing this mod.
