During camp meetings, the Israelites were not to “appear before the Lord empty-handed. Every man … [was to] give
as he is able, according to the blessing of the Lord your God, which He has given you” (Deut. 16:16-17).” At these
special seasons, they were to bring gifts, freewill offerings, and thank offerings unto the Lord according as He had
blessed them” (Ellen G. White, Testimonies for the Church, Vol. 5, 573).
God expects no less from us today. “There is a means enough in the hands of believers to amply sustain the work,
in all its departments, without embarrassing any, if all would bear their proportional part” (Ellen G. White,
Testimonies for the church, Vol. 3, p. 410).
