DISCUSS THE COMPOSITION OF THE PROFESSIONAL REGULATORY

BOARD OF ARCHITECTURE AND THEIR QUALIFICATIONS

The “BOARD” is a group that belongs to the administration and supervision of the
PROFESSIONAL REGULATION COMMISSION, and their members are as follow:

➢ CHAIRMAN
➢ TWO MEMBERS – a total of 5 NOMINEES will be presented by various professional
organization of architects. 3 RECOMMENDEES will then be chosen before the
president of the Philippines could appoint the final 2 MEMBERS.

note: the BOARD must be finalized and organized at least SIX MONTHS from the act’s
effectivity.

Moreover, every MEMBER must possess the following QUALIFICATIONS:

➢ legally considered as a RESIDENT and a CITIZEN of the country


➢ a DEGREE HOLDER in BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN ARCHITECTURE confirmed
and accredited by the COMMISION ON HIGHER EDUCATION
➢ possess a CERTIFICATE OF REGISTRATION and PROFESSIONAL
IDENTIFICATION CARD
➢ at least a 10-YEAR PRACTITIONER of ARCHITECTURE on or before his / her
appointment
➢ not a MEMBER of any REVIEW INSTITUTION, UNIVERSITY, COLLEGE, or
SCHOOL that is considered to teach ARCHITECTURE for, at least, the past FIVE
YEARS antecedent to the nomination
➢ have not been CONVICTED of any CRIME

WHAT IS AN ARCHITECT? DIFFERENTIATE THE FOLLOWING:

Generally speaking, an architect is considered to be academically and professionally


qualified, and has a registered license given by the Professional Regulatory Board of
Architecture. Additionally, specific categories fall under the profession and these are as
follow:

➢ Architect of Record – a licensed and registered architect who deals with a project
firsthand thus having the professional responsibility and liability for the plans
(including the signed and sealed contracts)
➢ Architect in Charge of Construction – a licensed and registered architect who deals with
the project’s construction supervision
➢ Consulting Architect – a licensed and registered architect who deals with a
specialization under the branch of architecture.

ENUMERATE THE QUALIFICATIONS FOR APPLICANTS FOR THE
LICENSURE EXAMINATION FOR ARCHITECTS

According to Article II (Examination, Registration, and Licensure), the following


qualifications are the requirements for the Licensure Examination for Architects:

➢ a FILIPINO CITIZEN or,


➢ a CITIZEN of a FOREIGN COUNTRY
➢ has good MORAL CHARACTER
➢ has a DEGREE of bachelor of SCIENCE IN ARCHITECTURE (must be accredited
by the Commission on Higher Education
➢ has at least of 2 YEARS of ARCHITECTURAL EXPERIENCE certified and testified
by a licensed architect or,
➢ at least 1 YEAR of ARCHITECTURAL EXPERIENCE if the applicant already has a
MASTER’S DEGREE in ARCHITECTURE
➢ no CRIMINAL record
