Book Analysis/Review “How for the flowers”

Introduction

The “Hope for The Flowers” is an allegorical novel written by Trina Paulus. The book was published in July 1972 and it is a fable
type of genre. As I read the story, I have already noticed the theme and where it focuses. It begins introducing a caterpillar who
was born in this world as a normal caterpillar, he is Stripe. In the very beginning, Stripe was fascinated about the world where
he can eat plenty of leaves as much as he wants and got bigger. One day, Stripe eventually became tired with what he was doing
for the entire time, and he decided to crawl down to explore the world around him. Stripe was delightful seeing his
surroundings but suddenly, it ended up being unsatisfied. Until Stripe spotted a branch of caterpillar ascending for nowhere.
Driven by his curiosity, Stripe showed his eager to go up together with his fellow caterpillars. Upon Stripe’s journey looking for
the answer for his curiosity about what is above the clouds where those caterpillars showed their endeavor to climb, Stripe met
Yellow, the caterpillar who also making an effort to climb but already hopeless for her journey. At the moment, they become
close to each other and Yellow convinced Stripe to go back down and lived idyllically together. When they go back, it was their
moment to loved each other and to live blissfully but then, Stripe continued to consider his ambition and grew unsatisfied.
Returning to his major objective was his choice and leaving Yellow alone. As Yellow walked out by herself, she came upon a grey
caterpillar that was resting in its cocoon. This encounter helped Yellow understand that she can able to be better than a
caterpillar. Yellow was first concerned about becoming a butterfly and feared that Stripe cannot be able to identify her, but she
was able to fly and support Stripe in his ambition. Meanwhile, an exquisite butterfly caught Stripe’s attention and it helped him
understand that there is nothing more special than loving someone and experiencing the most complete happiness. Stripe came
back to the ground and became a butterfly too. By that, Stripe and Yellow can finally live in idyllic life together.
