Assignment (#3):
IP Addressing and Subnetting

Date: Wen/30th/NOV/2022

0
Serial: 11822426 will become: 18.22.42.61 and the mask is = 24
The IP address: 18.22.42.61/24
Consume that I have 4 groups
Group 1: have 2 customers each customer have 24 addresses.
Group 2: have 3 customers each customer have 14 addresses.
Group 3: have 4 customers each customer have 7 addresses.
Group 4: have 5 customers each customer have 3 addresses.
1: find the number of addresses.
2: find the number of unused addresses in each group and in total.
3: find the mask for each Group.
4: find the first and last address.
5: Design to subneting.

___________________________________________________________

1) : number of addresses = 2^(32-24) = 2 ^ 8 =256

G1: each customer have 24 addresses but will be given 32 addresses.

G2: each customer have 15 addresses but will be given 16 addresses.
G3: each customer have 7 addresses but will be given 8 addresses.
G3: each customer have 3 addresses but will be given 4 addresses.

1
Given addresses Needed addresses Unused
Group 1 32 * 2 = 64 24 * 2 = 48 64 – 48 = 16
Group 2 16 * 3 = 48 14 * 3 = 42 48 – 42 = 6
Group 3 8 * 4 = 32 7 * 4 = 28 32 – 28 = 4
Group 4 4 * 5 = 20 3 * 5 = 15 20 – 15 = 5
Totals 164 133 31

2) : number of unused addresses for each group

G1 = 16 G2 = 6 G3 = 4 G4 = 5
The total unused addresses = 16 + 6 + 4 + 5 = 31
The total unused addresses by the number of addresses = 256 – 164 = 92

3) The mask for each Group:

As the number of addresses given for each group is:
G1 = 32 G2 = 16 G3 = 8 G4 = 4

Mask for Group 1: 2^ (32-?) = 32 = 2^ (32-27) = 32

So the mask for Group 1 = 27

Mask for Group 2: 2^ (32-?) = 16 = 2^ (32-28) = 16

So the mask for Group 2 = 28

Mask for Group 3: 2^ (32-?) = 8 = 2^ (32-29) = 8

So the mask for Group 3 = 29

Mask for Group 4: 2^ (32-?) = 4 = 2^ (32-30) = 4

So the mask for Group 4 = 30

2
4) The First and Last address:
As we know that our mask is 24
So 32 – 24 = 8 so we will work on the last eight digits of our IP address.

18.22.42.61 /24 to 18.22.42.00000000 /24

So the first address = 18.22.42.0 /24

18.22.42.61 /24 to 18.22.42.11111111 /24

So the last address = 18.22.42.255 /24

5) Subneting
Group1: needs 32 addresses and it have the mask of 27.
Group2: needs 16 addresses and it have the mask of 28.
Group3: needs 8 addresses and it have the mask of 29.
Group3: needs 4 addresses and it have the mask of 30.
