Statement of the Problem
Determine the significant difference between
The study aims to determine the
knowledge, attitudes, and practices of
community pharmacy personnel regarding
antibiotic dispensing in Tarlac City. It
specifically aims to seek answers to the
following research questions:
1. Identify the demographic profile of the
community pharmacy personnel based on the
following:
a. Sex
b. Occupation (Role in Community
Pharmacy)
b.1 Pharmacy technician
b.2 Pharmacy assistant
b.3 Pharmacy aide
c. Pharmacy Services NC(III)
Certification or other training specified
by the pharmacy personnel
d. Duration of community pharmacy
service
 We consider the demographic profile
based on sex, occupation or the role in
the community pharmacy, certification
or training and the duration because it
may affect the results in gathering data.
If the respondents have NC3 certification
or undergo other training, they work
more effective than the others or not.
Then for the duration it is important to
know to compare the if the pharmacy
personnel who works more than a year is
more effective than someone who
worked less than a year. The training
and duration is significant to know
because it is connected on how they act
according to their knowledge, attitude
and practices in the community
pharmacy service.
2. Identify the common dispensing practices of
the pharmacy personnel aside from the
pharmacist in the community pharmacy service.
3. Determine the knowledge, attitudes, and
practices of the community pharmacy personnel
regarding dispensing antibiotics.
4. Identify the most common antibiotic
dispensed by the community pharmacy
personnel, if there is any.

For the treatment of data
Frequency Count and Percentage
 frequency count is the calculation of how
many quantify the results on the
demographic profile of the community
pharmacy personnel and their practices
towards dispensing antibiotics or people fit
into a certain category . This calculation is
expressed by both the absolute (actual
number) and relative (percentage) totals.
 Percentage is calculated by taking the
frequency in the category divided by the
total number of participants and
multiplying by 100%.
Weighted mean
This statistical method will determine the
average data of attitudes of respondents toward
antibiotic medications. The weighted
mean involves multiplying each data point in a
set by a value which is determined by some
characteristic of whatever contributed to the data
point.
 So we have table 1 and 2 to interpret the
data gathering that we will conduct by
using likert scale which has result of
always, sometimes and never and has
equivalent value.
The chi-square (pronounced ‘kai’) distribution
is the most commonly used method of
comparing proportions. it determines whether a
relationship or association exists between being
in one of the two groups and the behaviour or
characteristic under study. In this study, it will
be used to determine the significant difference
between the demographic profile of the
respondents to their knowledge, attitude, and
practices (KAP). Significantly, it will have three
parts which are demographic profile and the
knowledge towards antibiotic dispensing,
demographic profile and the attitudes toward
antibiotic dispensing, and demographic profile
and the practices toward antibiotic dispensing.
