Subject – An Invitation to “Mélange 2023 – the Literary Fest”

Dear Ma’am/Sir

Greetings of the day!

DAV-14 is organizing its 10th Literary Fest – “Mélange 2023”, to provide a
platform for young students for the expression of creative talent.

This year’s theme for Mélange is ‘Classical Literature’. Classics transcend

time and culture and have a universal appeal. These genres remain relevant
across boundaries. They are recognized for their artistic merit, literary
art and their ground breaking nature. With a view to touch an emotional
cord with young readers, we welcome you to participate in a variety of
events.

You are requested to complete the e-registration of the students in the

various events that you wish to participate in, on the link provided
(https://forms.gle/pjgJgBB2MEm4VhCF6) latest by 2 May 2023 to enable
us to process the relevant details.

The names of the winners of Online competitions and the students who clear the
preliminary rounds will be announced through the school's facebook page
(https://www.facebook.com/dav14gurgaon?mibextid=ZbWKwL) on 8 May 2023.
The Prize Distribution ceremony for all winners (both Online and Offline events)
will be held on 12 May 2023.

We believe that your enthusiastic participation is pivotal to the event’s

success. The rules, regulations and other details pertaining to competitions

Event Name: Quiz Bowl

Number of teams per school : One

Number of participants per team : Two
Classes : XI-XII
Theme : Classic Literature

General guidelines:

The quiz will be based on books and authors, awards and

recognition, movie clippings, vocabulary etc.
The competition has two segments Preliminary round and Final round.
The preliminary round will be conducted Online via Google Forms on
4 May 2023 at 10:00 AM. The test duration is 20 minutes. The
link will be shared via school's official email id (already provided
while registering).
The preliminary round will be considered as the qualifying round.
It is mandatory for both the participants from each school to take
the preliminary round on MS forms as the cumulative score for each
school will be considered for the final round.
Team failing to submit the preliminary round test within the
stipulated time will be considered as disqualified.
Only the top six teams will qualify for the final round.
Final round will be conducted offline in the form of a quiz consisting
of several rounds to be held on Friday, 12 May 2023.
Other rules and regulations related to the quiz will be shared with
the participants on the day of the event.

General guidelines:
The Participants should select any one of the books mentioned below:
Life of Pie-Yann Martel
Animal Farm-George Orwell
Macbeth-William Shakespeare
The Book Thief-Markus Zusak

Instructions
Read the book thoroughly and convert it into a poetic form
The poem should not be more than ten stanzas (40 to 50 lines)
Give a proper title to rhe poem
The poem should present the main idea/ central idea of the book
Poem should be original and based on the book selected
Submit the pdf file on the following link:

Event Name: Character Carnival

Number of participants per school : One

Classes : VII-VIII
Presentation time: 2 min
Mode: Online

General guidelines:
Any character from ‘The Adventures of Tom Sawyer’ by Mark Twain to
be selected for enactment.
Participant to enact the scene selected as a monologue. (Improvisations
to the dialogues are allowed)
Participant is expected to dress up as the character he/she is
portraying.
Use of props is allowed.
The participant may add vocal sound effects to enhance the
performance. Use of recorded sound effects/music is also permitted.
Video to be recorded in one go, should be in mp4 format and in
landscape orientation.
Use of inappropriate and offensive words or props would lead to
disqualification.

Event Name: A Flight to Reality

Classic novels are destined to make a reader travel into a mesmerizing world of their
characters & then they remain in our minds forever. We bring you an opportunity to
bring your favourite characters into the real world.

Number of participants per school : One

Classes : III-V
Presentation time: 2-3 min
Mode : Online

General guidelines:
Dress up as a character from the Kids classic novels
( Pinocchio ,Peter Pan , Heidi, Mowgli, Alice, Pippi etc.)
Present a scene with apt background & music for his/her new journey into
this modern world.
Share your astounding feelings and experience in the form of a MONOLOGUE

प्रतियोगिता के नियम :
प्रेमचंद जी के कथा साहित्य से किसी एक पात्र का चयन कीजिए ।
कल्पना कीजिए कि तत्कालीन देशकाल वातावरण से निकलकर यदि वह पात्र आज के युग में
आ जाए तो क्या होगा?
इस कल्पना को एक नाटक का रूप देकर मंच पर प्रस्तुत कीजिए ।
पात्रों की संख्या तथा समय-सीमा का पालन अनिवार्य है |
प्रतियोगिता दो चरणों में सुनिश्चित की गई है| पहली आभासी मंच (Online) पर तथा दूसरी
विद्यालय परिसर(Offline)में सम्पन्न की जाएगी|

प्रसिद्ध कवि की किसी कालजयी रचना का चयन करना है|
कविता का काव्यात्मक नाट्य मंचन करना है|
पात्रों की संख्या तथा समय-सीमा का पालन अनिवार्य है|
प्रतिभागियों को सुनिश्चित समय-सीमा के अंतर्गत ही कवि तथा कविता का संक्षिप्त परिचय
देना है|
पात्रों की वेशभूषा तथा मंच सज्जा कविता के अनुरूप होनी चाहिए|
प्रतियोगिता दो चरणों में सुनिश्चित की गई है | पहली आभासी मंच (Online) पर तथा दूसरी

समय : 3 to 4 मिनट ( स्व परिचय के साथ )

नियम :-
महर्षि वाल्मीकि,वेदव्यास,अश्वघोष,सुबन्धु,कालिदास ,भास,भवभूति,श्री हर्ष,भारवि,भर्तृहरि,दण्डी
,बाणभट्ट, माघ इत्यादि प्राचीन संस्कृ त कवियों में किसी एक का परिचय एवं तद्रचित साहित्य का
परिचय प्रस्तुत करना होगा ।
प्रस्तुतिकरण धाराप्रवाह हो, संस्कृ तभाषा का शुद्ध उच्चारण अपेक्षित है ।
उच्चारण त्रुटिरहित व शुद्ध होना चाहिए।
विषय- वस्तु व वेश – भूषा दिए गए विषय से सम्बन्धित होनी चाहिए ।
आवश्यकतानुसार सहायक सामग्री स्कम्भनम् (PROPS) का प्रयोग किया जा सकता है ।
वाचन में उचित भावाभिव्यक्ति व उचित लय - यति - गति होनी चाहिए ।
छात्र पात्र प्रस्तुतिकरण का वीडियो बनाएँगे । वीडियो का नाम पात्र एवं विद्यालय के नाम पर
होगा ।
