Community Service Volunteer Project

The purpose of the community service event that I

participated in was to clean up the Plummer House's
surrounding area and make it a more beautiful and inviting
space for visitors. The Plummer House is a historic landmark
in Rochester, MN, and it is essential to maintain its beauty
and elegance for future generations. Our Radiation
Oncology group partners with a local organization dedicated
to cleaning up litter and debris in local communities once a
year.
During the event, we were assigned a one-mile radius
around the Plummer House to clean up garbage for two
hours. My contribution to the event was to work with other
volunteers in picking up litter and debris that we found
around the Plummer House. We used gloves and trash bags
to collect trash such as plastic bottles, cigarette butts, and
wrappers that were strewn around the area. It was a cold
and snowy spring morning, but we were determined to
complete our task and make the area cleaner.

The event was an eye-opener for me, and it made me realize the importance of community service. It was
fulfilling to work with other volunteers, and we all shared the common goal of making a difference in our
community. Our actions had a direct impact on the environment, and it felt good to be a part of something
that made a positive difference.
In conclusion, the community service event that I participated in with "Litter Bit Better" and the radiation
oncology group was a rewarding experience. I am grateful for the opportunity to make a difference in my
community, and it gave me a new perspective on the importance of taking action to preserve the
environment. I hope that more people will take part in such events and work towards a cleaner and greener
future.
