Agents of Socialization

Family: the main and first group. They are the basis of myself; values, common
sense, personality, and name. Every family has different norms and values that we
should respect but in my house, I’ve been thought to respect other people, be
humble, help others and defend my rights. My moral is included, I have my own
definition of good and bad thanks to them. Whenever I was doing something bad,
they punished me in a correct way to understand my mistake, that was some years
ago since I’m old enough to understand things now on.

School: most of my knowledge comes from this source. Here I have been learning
about stuff from any subjects: arts, science, math, literature, grammar, philosophy,
physical education. Away from socialization, this group has only thought to me
knowledge, norms and the function of many roles, at least the most popular,
including how to behave within people with different values than me.
Peers: the people in your peer group can vary from years. My first peer group I
met it on school, friends in elementary, which taught me the values of friendship,
companion and trust. The way I refer to vary does not means that people are
disposable, it means that every human has its own way and it has to go for it. A
good example could be a friend of high school that you would not see in a long
time because he wants to go to college in a far place, you as a friend should
encourage and help him to don’t feel incorrect.

Mass Media: the last but not least agent. I started to use this agent when my
parents knew that I was mature enough to use it and discover its functions. Mass
media comes in different ways but the most used these days for my generation is
internet, this media includes information, streaming, entertainment from all parts of
the world. I have used it to expand my view of things, getting to know interesting
stuff, chat with my friends, keep my mind “moving” to learn.
