P.A.-tronic CONTROL UNIT Volume flow dependent cycle control system with monitoring
For this operating mode the central lubricating feed mechanism is switched on in the cycle of
settings at the KS 1 coding switches on the basis of time or machine stroke, and switched off on
reaching the variable pulse count from the signal transmitters, e.g. proximity switches attached to
progressive distributors.

1. System ON: When the system is switched on, the control system begins the cycle with the
lubrication process.
2. The monitoring time for the fill level switch is set with each closing pulse over the duration of the
closing time and with the beginning of the pause. If the contact is opened for longer than one
minute during the pump operating time or does not close at least once for a pump run time of
less than 1 min, a fault message occurs.
3 After reaching the set target count (closing pulses) of signal transmitters 1 and 2 (in the
example 1 stroke) the pump's operating time (AZ) is ended. If more pulses than the set target
count enter from a signal transmitter, the signals are suppressed.
4. Fresh switching on of the pump occurs on expiry of the set cycle time and/or cycle strokes (AZ
+ PZ). I
Important: If the set cycle time and/or cycle strokes are shorter than the pump run time (AZ),
the next cycle begins without the pump switching off.
5. The cycle time sequence can be interrupted by closing of the contact at input B1 for the
duration of the connection.
6. If the set target stroke count is not reached by a signal transmitter within the set monitoring
time, or no closing pulse is given from the fill level switch within 1 min and/or the pump run time,
the fault message relay is released.
7. The system can be actuated with the reset button.
During an interruption of the power supply, control units with memory collect the parameters which are shown
with in the diagram.
After the system has been started again, the program continues at the interrupted position. After an interruption of
the power supply during a lubricating cycle the whole program is started new (start with AZ).

Setting
1. Cycle time and/or machine strokes
Setting and preselection to time or stroke operation takes place at the KS 1 coding switches in
accordance with the table on the last fold-down cover page.
It must be taken into account that no switching off of the pump occurs if the pump run time is
longer than the set cycle time. Continuous lubrication is achieved with this setting.
2. Operating options
Setting the operating mode and functions takes place at the KS 2 coding switches.
Two programs can be preselected on the basis of the signal transmitters' pulse count and the

P.A.-tronic CONTROL UNIT Volume flow dependent cycle control system with monitoring
b) (continued)
Note:
The monitoring time must be set at least to the time required for the volumetric displacement of the
lubricant pump to achieve the set pulse sequence, e.g. from a progressive distributor, at the signal
transmitter. If two signal transmitters are connected, via inputs B2 and B3, both must reach the set
target stroke count.
Commissioning
The equipment can be commissioned if it runs in the system according to diagram, the lubricant
tank is filled up and the control unit is wired to plan and checked.
If the target values for the cycle, signal transmitter pulses (distributor stroke count) and monitoring
time desired for the later operation of the equipment are set at commissioning, a fault message may
occur on expiry of the monitoring time until the main pipes have been completely filled.
Therefore we recommend:
a) after each fault message switch on again with the reset button
b) set the cycle time to the lowest value and/or
c) the monitoring time to the highest value and/or
d) the pulse count for the signal transmitter(s) to the lowest value.
After filling of all the pipework up to the points of friction the target values (cycle etc.) must be reset.
For central grease lubrication systems in particular, the signal transmitters' pulses may enter in a
different timing sequence.
The monitoring time must therefore be set at least to the highest measured timing sequence.
If only one signal transmitter is connected, the B2 and B3 inputs must be bridged. If there is no fill
level control, the B4 input must be connected to +24V DC.
During periods of machine standstill, it is recommended that the cycle timeout be used, to avoid
excessive lubrication of the machine.
Important: Any alteration to a switch setting at KS 1 and KS 2 when the equipment is switched on
requires confirmation with the reset button.

P.A.-tronic CONTROL UNIT Cycle control for dual line systems with monitoring
Start up
The system can be taken into operation after it has been installed correctly, the reservoir has been
filled and the control unit has been connected and checked.
Fault messages at the filling of the main lines can be avoided by initial setting of a longer operating
time. A shorter cycle time means permanent operation.
After a malfunction, the system can be started again with the RESET-key.
Systems with switch-over signal by a differential pressure switch or pressure switches can be filled
faster, if the final lubrication (KS1, switch 1 ON) is activated.
Without level switch wire input B4 with +24 V DC.
After filling all lines, adjust the target values for cycle and monitoring time.
During standstill times of the machine (break with switched on operating voltage) we recommend to
use the cycle time lock to avoid excessive lubrication of the machine.
H1 flashing See above, but with inverted main line identification (main line II at input B3)
clock rate 0,1 sec
H1 flashing The contact of the level switch is not closed / closes not within <1 min or
H2 OFF within the working time of the pump
Cause: a) lack of lubricant
b) switching point of the transmitter not adjusted or the
lubricant doesn´t activate the switch
c) no level switch installed (connect a bridge +24 V DC to B4)

Reset
On actuation of the reset button, all operating parameters are restored to the switch-on status and
the program only restarted when the switch opens. The fault message relay is not released,
therefore no fault message occurs.
Important: Any alteration to a switch setting at KS 1 and KS 2 when the equipment is switched on
requires confirmation with the reset button.
