Good morning candidates!

My name is _________________. I am your accredited competency assessor


for SHIELDED METAL ARC WELDING (SMAW) NCII.
( the assessor must wear his/her ID card as a proof of his/her accreditation)

I would like to acknowledge the presence of _____________


our TESDA representative and ___________________, our AC Manager.

You do not have to worry about their presence. They are here to oversee
the conduct of competency assessment and to check if the conduct is in
accordance with the prescribed competency assessment methodology
and procedures. They will not assess you.

Before I start, let me first check the attendance.

candidates on admission slip against the signature on the attendance sheet)

I have here with me your accomplished application form and (SAG) self-
assessment guide. This is an indication that you know and can perform
all the units of competency enumerated in Shielded Metal Arc Welding
NC II.
(Self-assessment guide was given to the candidate by the processing officer of
the assessment center)

I would like to welcome all of you to our center for your assessment for
Shielded Metal Arc Welding NC II. The purpose of our assessment for
Shielded Metal Arc Welding NC II is to determine the level of your
competency.
Today, I am going to administer competency assessment for Shielded
Metal Arc Welding NC II. The Qualification of Shielded metal arc
welding NC II is composed of basic, common and core competencies. For
our core competencies we will have:

During assessment

The different task to be performed in Shielded Metal Arc Welding NC II


assessment;
The competency assessor orients/briefs the candidates. Explains the following:

 context and purpose of assessment (refer to pp 10-11 of CCA CBLM)


 qualification/units of competency to be assessed (refer to the core
competencies of your qualification)
 tasks to be performed and the evidence to be collected
 assessment procedures to be undertaken
 needs of the candidates to be considered during assessment
 allowable/reasonable adjustments in the assessment procedure(refer to
pp 35-37 of CCA CBLM)
 right to make an appeal

Let us now proceed to the Institutional Assessment Room, candidate #1

You have with you all the materials, tools and equipment required to
complete tasks. Please check them.

Specific Instructions:

3. Here is your Specific Instructions. Please read it with me.

1. I HAVE HERE your written test

2. Using the materials, tools and equipment, you are required to


perform the tasks within 2 hours. I will be observing you
while you are performing the tasks.

3. After your demonstration, I will ask you some questions


related to your demonstration.

4. You may call me when there is a need for me to translate or


explain items for clarification.

5. After the questioning portion, I will give you feedback about


your performance.

6. Please observe safety at all times.

7. Any questions/clarifications? If there are no more questions,


you may start now. Time starts now.
Note:
 While the candidate performs the activity you must
- stop candidate if accident is imminent
- keep notes of unusual conditions during the assessment
 Move around and note down your observation in the Rating Sheets.

Provide Feedback on the assessment

 Please sign the Rating Sheets and the CARS (Competency
Assessment Results Summary)
 You can get your National Certificate from the TESDA Provincial
Office located in Talisay City 5 working days after this
assessment. Don’t forget to bring with you your passport size
pictures, P195.00 and your CARS. The AC Manager will give
you your CARS. Again, CONGRATULATIONS

Note: Give a copy of the accomplished Competency Assessment Results


Summary to the candidate (Make sure that the document is signed by the
candidate in the appropriate space then affix your signature.)

 (If the candidate was found not yet competent say:) Mr/Ms/Mrs.
(state the name) I am sorry you were not able to perform
within the standard requirements of the Qualification. You have
to review/ practice the activities related to the competency
requirements of the Qualification. Therefore, at this time, you
are not yet competent for Qualification.
 You can come back for reassessment when you feel confident
enough that you have acquired the competence. Don’t worry you
will only be reassessed on the parts of the activity that you
were found not yet competent. You may see the processing
officer on the schedule of the next assessment.
 Please sign the Rating Sheets and the CARS (Competency
Assessment Results Summary)
