ASIAN MUSICAL ACT THAT BECOME FAMOUS INTERNATIONALLY

EXO

1.) EXO is a boyband formed by SM ENTERTAINMENT, originated in Seoul, South Korea and has been on
the music scene since 2012 and has had their fair share of struggles in that time. EXO began as a twelve
member group split down the middle: EXO-K was to focus on promotion in Korea while EXO-M focused
on China. The four original Chinese members Kris, Luhan, Tao and Lay, alongside Chen and Xiumin, made
up EXO-M, while leader Suho, Sehun, Kai, Baekhyun, D.O. and Chanyeol represented EXO-K. The
members were introduced through a series of short teaser films, most of which were accompanied by
early, not yet complete versions of songs that would later be released on their albums.
2.) EXO is very famous in most of the Asian countries - mostly Korea, Japan, China, Thailand, Philippines,
Malaysia and Singapore, seeing how concert tickets sell out within minutes in these countries. EXO
dominates Asia.
South Asia - India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal. EXO is very popular in South Asia.
Middle-East - Seeing the craze in Dubai and how the whole of Middle-East had covered EXO in their
news channels only because EXO came to Dubai, I bet there are a lot of fans waiting there. Now that
they're holding SMTOWN in Dubai, we get to see even more fans.
European countries and Russia - They have been waiting for EXO to visit Europe for years now. Europe
has a wide fanbase too and organize many huge projects. After Sehun and Chanyeol have been there as
models, EXO's popularity in Europe has rapidly increased.
North and South America - Mexico has the most number of fans, from what I've seen. EXO is pretty
popular in N.A., as their last concert tour in NA was very successful. They have their 2 biggest fanbases in
America. EXO is also popular as models, looking at the Tommy Hilfiger, Gucci, Prada and other brands'
hype.
Africa - They too have a fine EXO fanbase. I might not really be sure with how popular EXO is in African
countries, but African fans do hold mind-blowing projects.

3.) EXO debuted with their single Mama followed by the EP of the same name on April 9. Almost
instantly, it was a huge hit, with the Korean version peaking at number one on South Korea's prominent
Gaon Album Chart and at number eight on the Billboard World Albums Chart.
EXO's popularity also hit a fever pitch with the funky, dance-pop single “Growl.” Since then, each of
EXO's last five albums have sold over a million copies in South Korea alone.

4.) Their vocal line, dance line, and rap line, all are strong and well composed. And these are some of the
main reasons why EXO attracts most of the non-kpop fans. The EXO members ( I'll consider all 12 of
them) are really talented when it comes to singing and dancing and visuals of EXO, are something worth
looking at.
