Introduction

What is compressor?
A compressor is a mechanical device that increases the
pressure of a gas by reducing its volume. An air compressor
is a specific type of gas compressor.

Types of compressor:
positive displacement
dynamic
Dynamic type Dynamic type
Work at: constant pressure

& Positive Uses a diffuser for air compression

displacement Positive displacement type

Workt at: a constant gas flow rate

type Using: a piston

Components of Dynamic Compressor:

Inlet

Impeller

Volute

Radial diffuser
Dynamic Compressor Working Principle

Working Principle is First of all Secondly

based
air introduces through A diffuser connects with
on thermodynamics the inlet of the the compressor
principles compressor into the
chamber.
Dynamic Compressor Types

The main 3 types:

Centrifugal compressors

Axial compressors

Turbo-expander compressors
Centrifugal compressor

First stage: gas suction

Second stage: centrifugation

Third stage: discharging

Axial flow compressor

Rotor
Stator Blades
Rotor Blades
Axial flow
Shaft
Turbo-expander compressor

What is turboexpander?
It's centrifugal or axial-flow turbine, through
which a high-pressure gas is expanded to
produce work that is often used to drive a
compressor or generator
It works with various water flow.
Advantages of It requires less maintenance.
Dynamic
Compressor Mostly, it uses on a large scale

Easy to design

These have a low weight

It is an oil-free in nature.

This type of compressor is more reliable

as compared to other types.
Less efficient than a positive displacement
compressor.

Disadvantages Do not compress gas by decreasing the

volume, which is the most common method.

of dynamic Use one or more rotating elements to

compression accelerate the air and then reduce its velocity.

Choke, stall, and Surge issues.

Not suitable for very high compression

Sensitive to changes in gas composition 12

Aplications of
Dynamic
Compressor
Dynamic compressor uses in:
1. Refrigeration applications.
2. Use for gas injection
3. Use for compression in gas powerplant
4. Uses in Aero-plane (Axial compressor)
5. Pipeline compression
Conclusion
They are the main mining equipment.

They are responsible for the transportation of gas in installations responsible

for the processing of gas and oil.
Gas is pumped into underground storage facilities.

Gas is pumped into oil reservoirs in order to regulate pressure.

Perform the operation of crimping pipelines, gas and oil storage tanks

They are the main force in the development of new fields.
