WRITTEN WORK 3.1.1

LIST DOWN THE FOLLOWING TABLE TENNIS RULES.

I. GENERAL RULES

1. Games are played to 11 points.

2. Alternate serves every two points.

3. Toss the ball straight up when serving

4. The serve can land anywhere in singles. Double serves must go right court to right
court.

5. A serve that touches the net on the way over is a “let”.

6. Alternate hitting in a doubles rally.

II. SERVICE

1. Hold the ball on your palm, above the table, and behind the end line.

2. Throw it up vertically at least 16cm.

3. Hit the ball so that it bounces once on your side, clears the net, then bounces on your
opponent's side.

III. POINTS

1. Fails to make a good serve.

2. Allows the ball to bounce twice on his side of the table.

3. Does not hit the ball after it has bounced on his side of the table.

4. Does not hit the ball onto his opponent’s side of the table.

5. Hits the ball before it has bounced unless it’s obviously not going to bounce on his
side of the table.

6. Hits the ball twice in succession (double hit)

7. Puts his non-playing hand on the table or net or moves the table.

8. Obstructs the ball with any part of his body or clothing.


IV. LET

1. A serve that touches the net assembly (the net, net posts, and net clamps) on the way,
but still touches his side first and then the opponent's side on the second bounce, is called a let serve (or
just let) and must be replayed, with no change to the score.

2. If the service is delivered when the receiving player or pair is not ready, provided that
neither the receiver not his or her partner attempts to strike the ball.

3. If play is interrupted by the umpire or assistant umpire; If the receiver is in wheelchair


owing to a physical disability and in service the ball, provided that the service is otherwise correct.

4. comes to rest on the receiver’s court; in singles leaves the receiver’s court after
touching it by either of its sidelines.

5. Play may be interrupted; to correct an error in the order of serving, receiving or ends.
