CCN Overview

The Charging Control Node (CCN) is a part of Ericsson Charging System. The main purpose of
the CCN is to provide interfaces between the core network and the other network elements of
the current charging system. To perform this task, CCN supports a number of protocols, both
towards the MSC and towards the different network elements.

CCN is built on the Ericsson Telecom Server Platform (TSP), Telecom Server Platform 7. The TSP
includes the hardware multi service Network Server Platform (NSP), the TSP Operating System
DICOS, Linux, and middleware for node management and network signaling.

The CCN has the following main responsibilities:

 Charging session control
 Charging System session handling
 Charging System interface
 Account routing
 Call Detail Record (CDR) generation

Serial over LAN in CNN/TSP

This document describes how to use the Serial over LAN (SoL) feature in Ericsson Telecom
Server Platform (TSP). The SoL feature is supported by Generic Ericsson Processor 5 (GEP5)
processor boards, and Blade Server Platform (BSP) nodes. The SoL allows automatic logging of
serial console output by redirecting it to LAN through blade management microcontrollers.

The intended target groups for this document are the following:

 System administrators
 Installation engineers
 Field technicians
Basic Functions of SoL in TSP
The TSP software is installed on GEP hardware boards (cards), which are arranged into cabinets.
Cabinets contain magazines, which have slots for cards. Each card is a separate computer.

There is one interface for direct human use, the console, which is a serial interface. This console
is an interface that uses communication protocol (RS232).

The main purpose of the console is to provide a low-level operator access to the traffic
processor for diagnosis, troubleshooting, and logging even before the OS is loaded and normal
management functions are available. The console accepts simple content, like free text
characters, or sometimes control characters for colors, tabulating, and so on.

The console also acts as input. This means that by using the appropriate converters virtual
terminals, telnet (and so on) can be connected on it.

RS232 Configuration Parameters

A valid IP address is composed in the following way (172.16.0.67):

172 16 0 67 IPv4 address in decimal

10101100 00010000 00000000 01000011 IPv4 address in binary
Network address including NetRed Zone (Zone 1 or Zone 2)
XXXXXXXX XXXXXXXX XXXXX...
and Switch Side (Left or Right) information.
