Dear Delegates:
Welcome to the 2022 Nominating Convention for the Utah Republican Party! Thank you for serving our party, and for taking
time out of your lives to participate in the political process.
Today you have an extremely important job to do—nominating candidates that best represent you, your family, your
neighbors, and the Republican party. Around the state, delegates have been busy attending meet-the-candidate events, debates,
and individual campaign events to learn all that they can about each of our phenomenal candidates. I’d like to highlight that
this year’s slate of candidates is exceptionally impressive. We are grateful for each and every candidate who has thrown their hat
in the race, advanced our understanding of different policy positions, and offered their time and talents for the benefit of our
great state.
If you have not yet taken the opportunity to read the State Party Platform, I encourage you to do so. This platform is what
binds us together as Republicans, it is the basis on which our party is built. The Republican party is often described as “A Big
Tent.” Recently though, I have come to challenge that thought. I believe that the Republican Party should be more like “A Big
Castle,” firm, steady, and immovable. Having a foundation comprised of the values and beliefs espoused in our Platform, with
a door large enough to welcome all of those who are looking to belong. These principles are what have carried us this far, and
will secure a bright future for our posterity.
As Ronald Reagan once said, “Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn’t pass it to our
children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same, or one day we will
spend our sunset years telling our children and our children’s children what it was once like in the United States where men
were free.”
During my campaign for the State Party Chair, the slogan I chose was one that is dear to me and now seems more fitting than
ever, a quote from Robert Frost:

privilege of having a hand in shaping that future. We will no doubt face significant challenges in the coming years, but with your
diligence and continued participation, we will make a difference. Now is the time to be bold.
