    LAN CABLE / ETHERNET CABLE

    Lan Cable – A cable used to connect devices (Computer, Printer, Router, Switch, Hub)

    Materials in creating a LAN cable

    RJ45 – 8 wire connector

    TWISTED PAIR WIRES – STP AND UTP

    Shielded Twisted Pair – Compared to UTP, STP has extra layer serving as a shield. It can be metal foil or
    braided shield, this shield helps to protect signals from interference (EMI and RFI).

    Unshielded Twisted Pair – Cost effective – Most commonly used twisted pair suitable for most
    application.

    Crimping tool - Used to crimp RJ45 to UTP or STP

    Wire stripper - To strip insulation from the wire - Mostly rubber

    LAN Tester – Used to test LAN cable to ensure that its functional.

    Cross Over – Used to connect the same devices

    Straight through – Used to connect unlike devices
