Rom 4:1 What shall we say then that Abraham our father, as pertaining to the

flesh, hath found?

Rom 4:2 For if Abraham were justified by works, he hath whereof to glory; but
not before God.

Rom 4:3 For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was
counted unto him for righteousness.

Rom 4:4 Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of
debt.

Rom 4:5 But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the
ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.

● Faith in the atonement of Jesus grants

Romans 4: 1-5 actions and these actions, or lack
thereof, can be used by others to
determine where we stand with the
Lord
(Jas 2:17-18)- Jas 2:17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead,
being alone.

Jas 2:18 Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew
me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my
works.
Rom 4:6 Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom
God imputeth righteousness without works,

Rom 4:7 Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are
covered.

Rom 4:8 Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.

there is no guile.
Heb 10:1 For the law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image
of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year
continually make the comers thereunto perfect.
Heb 10:2 For then would they not have ceased to be offered? because that the
worshippers once purged should have had no more conscience of sins.
Heb 10:3 But in those sacrifices there is a remembrance again made of sins every
year.
Heb 10:4 For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away
sins.
Heb 10:5 Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering
thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me:
Heb 10:6 In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin thou hast had no pleasure.
Heb 10:7 Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do
thy will, O God.
Heb 10:8 Above when he said, Sacrifice and offering and burnt offerings and offering
for sin thou wouldest not, neither hadst pleasure therein; which are offered by the law;
Heb 10:9 Then said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. He taketh away the first, that
he may establish the second.
Heb 10:10 By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of
Jesus Christ once for all.
Heb 10:11 And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the
same sacrifices, which can never take away sins:
Heb 10:12 But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down
on the right hand of God;
Heb 10:13 From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool.
Heb 10:14 For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.
● All our sins--past, present, and future--were forgiven through the one
offering of Jesus. If God can't forgive futuretense sins, then none of us can be
saved, because Jesus only died once, nearly 2,000 years ago, before we had
committed any sins. All our sins have been forgiven.

● Why, then, 1Jo 1:9? "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us
our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." This is not speaking of
the eternal salvation of our spirits but rather the salvation of our souls (Jas
1:21 and 1Pe 1:9).

● It's our spirits that become born again at salvation, and sin will never be
imputed to our born-again spirits. They have been sanctified and perfected
forever (Heb 10:10, 14; and 12:23) and cannot sin (1Jo 3:9).
Rom 4:9 Cometh this blessedness then upon the circumcision only, or upon the
uncircumcision also? for we say that faith was reckoned to Abraham for
righteousness.
Rom 4:10 How was it then reckoned? when he was in circumcision, or in
uncircumcision? Not in circumcision, but in uncircumcision.
Rom 4:11 And he received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the
faith which he had yet being uncircumcised: that he might be the father of all them
that believe, though they be not circumcised; that righteousness might be imputed
unto them also:
Rom 4:12 And the father of circumcision to them who are not of the circumcision
only, but who also walk in the steps of that faith of our father Abraham, which he had
being yet uncircumcised.
● Abraham’s circumcision came
13 years after he was justified.
Review of (Hence, his circumcision didnt

Romans 4: 9-12
produce his Righteousness)

Apart from Faith in Jesus there

is no other requirement for your
salvation (Not even water
baptism) Romans 3:28
Rom 3:28 Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds
of the law.

NOTE: Circumcision is a private thing, yet God gave that to Abraham as a token of his
righteousness. Hence, we cant be judges of the righteousness of others its between
them and God. (We may discern through their fruits/actions but we must never judge
them) Mat 7:1 Judge not, that ye be not judged.

Note that Abraham had faith before he had the action of circumcision. Many people
have mistakenly thought that actions produce faith, but that's not so (Mt 23:26; Luke
11:42). Faith produces actions ( Matthew 7:21, Matthew 25:40).
Rom 4:13 For the promise, that he should be the heir of the world, was not to
Abraham, or to his seed, through the law, but through the righteousness of faith.

Rom 4:14 For if they which are of the law be heirs, faith is made void, and the
promise made of none effect:

Rom 4:15 Because the law worketh wrath: for where no law is, there is no
transgression. (Whoever is seeking to be justified by keepingthelaw is bringing
themselves under the wrath of God) Rom 5:13 (For until the law sin was in the
world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law.

Rom 4:16 Therefore it is of faith, that it might be by grace; to the end the promise
might be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the law, but to that also
which is of the faith of Abraham; who is the father of us all,
Rom 4:17 (As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom
he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not
as though they were.

Rom 4:18 Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many
nations, according to that which was spoken, So shall thy seed be.

Rom 4:19 And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when
he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sara's womb: (what you
focus on magnifies in your life) (What we mostly refer to as fact are actually generating
unbelief)

Rom 4:20 He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in
faith, giving glory to God;
Rom 4:21 And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also
to perform. (Many of us stop at the point of our persuaions alone, and this is a
point where the promise isnt yet tangible and as such we cannot be fully
persuaded)

Rom 4:22 And therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness.

Rom 4:23 Now it was not written for his sake alone, that it was imputed to him;

Rom 4:24 But for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him that
raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead;

Rom 4:25 Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our
justification.

of Justification by
Faith
Rom 5:1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through
our Lord Jesus Christ: 1. (PEACE)

stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. 2. (ACCESS/ADMISSION) 3.

Rom 5:3 And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that
tribulation worketh patience;

Rom 5:4 And patience, experience; and experience, hope:

Rom 5:5 And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed
abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.
This is what we see

Rom 5:6 For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.

Rom 5:7 For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some
would even dare to die.

Rom 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died
for us.

Rom 5:9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath
through him. (God loves a believer more than he loves a sinner)

Rom 5:10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son,
much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life. (if God loves a believer more than a
sinner, we believers should treat our brethren the same way) (Your born again non-sibling is
more sibling to you than an unsaved sibling).

Rom 5:11 And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we
have now received the atonement.
These verses clearly teach that is not the truth. God loves us much more now than He did

before our salvation. And before our salvation, He loved us so much that He died for us. He

loves us even more now.

Does this mean that living a holy life is not necessary? It means that our own holiness is not a

requirement. We are acceptable to God by grace through faith. But those of us who are truly

born again have had a change of heart. We want to live holy (1Jo 3:3). However, we all fail to be

as holy as we want to be. When we fail, this knowledge that God loves us more now than when

He sent His Son to die for us will keep us from being condemned and draw us back to serving

God.
Rom 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death
passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:

Rom 5:13 (For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law.

Rom 5:14 Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned
after the similitude of Adam's transgression, who is the figure of him that was to come. (Sin is
not only a transgression against GOD, It is an INROAD OF THE DEVIL into our lives Romans 6:16)

Rom 5:15 But not as the offence, so also is the free gift. For if through the offence of one many
be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ,
hath abounded unto many.

Rom 5:16 And not as it was by one that sinned, so is the gift: for the judgment was by one to
condemnation, but the free gift is of many offences unto justification.
Rom 5:17 For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive

abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.)

Rom 5:18 Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation;

even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life.

Rom 5:19 For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of

one shall many be made righteous.

Rom 5:20 Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded,

grace did much more abound:
