In some countries, it is illegal for companies to reject job applicants for their age.

Is this a
positive or negative development.
Workplace competitiveness and selection for work is are becoming more challenging and age is
an important determinant for job candidates. Even now, some countries restrict a number of
occupations to a certain age. In my opinion, this phenomenon is a negative development. This
could lead to a company picking the wrong people and causing job inequality.
Firstly, a discrimination of age and specificity of work can make an ideal profession be turned
down due to an advanced age, considering scientific factors. For instance, a 60 years old 60-
year-old man with years of experience at a construction site would require a plethora of
alertness, strength, and fitness, which might be challenging. Occupations such as this places
their restrictions to on a certain position. This in turn makes them pick the wrong people,
ignoring important requirements such as work experience.
Secondly, people will not get equal opportunities for a certain job. An example is that a
housewife who would have stayed home for years to nurse her children and attended a course
study year after then is being denied. Hence, rejecting her is not a positive thing. Therefore, a
person has a the right to learn anything at any age and then compete to earn a living.
To reiterate, avoiding age discrimination between companies and job opportunities in countries
would be beneficial for the nation and firm. Hence, I encourage that the practice is be
employed. The economically benefits would be realized in the future.
