SPEECH AND STAGE ARTS
First Semester 2017 – 2018

I. UNIVERSITY VISION
The Ramon Magsaysay Technological University shall be a progressive learner-centered
research university recognized in the ASEAN region in 2020.

II. UNIVERSITY MISSION


The Ramon Magsaysay Technological University (RMTU) shall primarily provide
instruction, undertake research and extension, and provide advanced studies and progressive
leadership in agriculture, forestry, engineering, education, arts and sciences, humanities, and
other fields as may be relevant to the development of the province.

III. COLLEGE GOALS


At the end of the four-year program the graduates should be able to (1) demonstrate
professional competencies, specialized skills and desirable personal and social traits for
effective instruction; (2) contribute to the development in the teacher education through
research; and (3) strengthen external linkages for effective resource-sharing in response to the
changing needs of the people and the institutions in the service area.

VI. COURSE OBJECTIVES:


At the end of the semester, the students should be able to:
1. Trace historical context in the development of theatre;
2. Use drama and theatre terminology in appreciating and analyzing theatre plays;
3. Prioritize stage discipline, which required of every theatre artist;
4. Develop a better understanding and more sensitive appreciation of theatre arts;
5. Appreciate the artistic, production and management components of theatre
productions;
6. Mold a play worthy of “standing room only”;
7. Apply a proper way of delivering lines in theatrical play.

VII. COURSE DESCRIPTION:


The course is designed to introduce the student to various aspects of drama and theatre as an
art form, as a humanistic pursuit and as a dramatic experience emphasizing on how the students
should deliver lines when performing. This is done by via a study of theatre history and various
elements that make up successful theatre productions.

XV. CLASSROOM POLICIES:


1. A student who misses any of the major tests must present a valid reason why he/she
was absent before he/she can take the special examination
2. Allowance of 15 minutes is considered before one will be marked absent
3. All other policies stipulate in the Student’s Handbook related to academics and proper
decorum are also included (haircut, uniform, no. of allowable absences, etc.)
4. Usage of cellular phones and other communication/entertainment gadgets are not
allowed inside the classroom during the class hours
5. Any form of cheating are strongly prohibited.
6. Students are not allowed to have more than 11 hours absences semester (20% of
allocated hours), she/he may be automatically be dropped in the subject.
