Steps to follow for writing a good piece of guided writing
1. Read the question so as to understand what is to be written. PT3 syllabus comes in Formats: (i) Articles (a) Pictures (ii) Reports (b) Words expansion (iii) Formal letter (c) Graphs (iv) Informal letter (d) Pie charts (v) Speech
2. Understand the pictures/words/graphs/pie charts before writing
3. Use the given points to prepare your points – main points into many sub-points Story/Essay – who? what? where? when? why? how? Facts – what? why? how? 4. Start to write (NO DRAFT), take care of (a) all points are written (b) points are clearly written (c) well-constructed sentences with linkages (d) correct grammar usage (e) spelling mistakes 5. Check mistakes – count words: number of words in sentence x number of sentences 6. Paragraphing – (i) Introduction – simple description of the topic (start the story if it is a story) (ii) Body 1 – main points + sub-points (iii) Body 2 – main points + sub-points (iv) Conclusion – to summarise the overall writing (end the story if it is a story)
