CENTER FOR INNOVATION ON AQUA BUSINESS TECHNOLOGY

I. DIRECTOR
Primary responsibility: To lead and oversee all aspects of the Center's operations. This
includes setting the strategic direction, managing the staff and resources, building relationships
with stakeholders, and overseeing the development of innovative technologies and research
projects.
Job responsibilities:
1) Strategic planning: Developing and implementing a strategic plan for the Center that
aligns with the goals of the organization and the aquaculture industry.
2) Budget management: Overseeing the Center's budget and ensuring that financial
resources are used efficiently and effectively.
3) Team management: Managing a team of researchers, technicians, and support staff to
ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget.
4) Research development: Leading the development of innovative aquaculture
technologies and research projects that can improve the productivity, efficiency, and
sustainability of the aquaculture industry.
5) Stakeholder engagement: Building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders,
including industry partners, government agencies, and academic institutions, to ensure
that the Center's research and development activities are aligned with the needs of the
industry.
6) Communication and outreach: Communicating the Center's research findings to a range
of stakeholders through publications, presentations, and other outreach activities to
promote the adoption of innovative aquaculture technologies.
7) Fundraising: Developing and implementing a fundraising strategy to secure funding from
government agencies, private foundations, and other sources to support the Center's
research and development activities.
The Director of the Center plays a critical role in advancing the aquaculture industry through
the development of innovative technologies and research projects that can improve the
sustainability and efficiency of aquaculture production.
II. ASSISTANT DIRECTOR
Primary responsibility: To support the Director in overseeing all aspects of the Center's
operations. Work closely with the Director to develop and implement the strategic direction of
the Center and ensure that research and development activities are aligned with the goals of the
organization and the aquaculture industry.
Job responsibilities:
1) Project management: Managing specific research projects and ensuring that they are
completed on time and within budget. This may involve coordinating with research staff,
industry partners, and other stakeholders to ensure that project milestones are met.
2) Budget management: Supporting the Director in overseeing the Center's budget and
ensuring that financial resources are used efficiently and effectively.
3) Team management: Providing leadership and support to a team of researchers,
technicians, and support staff to ensure that projects are completed to a high standard.
4) Stakeholder engagement: Assisting the Director in building and maintaining relationships
with key stakeholders, including industry partners, government agencies, and academic
institutions, to ensure that the center's research and development activities are aligned

III. INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY RESEARCH SPECIALIST


Primary responsibility: To support the Center's research and development activities by
designing, implementing, and maintaining information technology systems and solutions that
enable the efficient collection, storage, analysis, and dissemination of data.
Job responsibilities:
1) Research support: Collaborating with other researchers and stakeholders to develop
information technology solutions that support the research and development activities of
the center.
2) Data management: Developing and implementing systems for collecting, storing, and
analyzing large volumes of data related to aquaculture production, environmental
conditions, and other factors that affect the industry.
3) Software development: Developing and maintaining custom software solutions to
support the center's research activities. This may involve programming in languages
such as Python, R, or Java.
4) System administration: Managing the center's IT infrastructure, including servers,
networks, and databases, to ensure that they are secure, reliable, and performant.
5) Technology assessment: Evaluating new and emerging technologies related to
aquaculture production and recommending solutions that can improve the efficiency,
sustainability, and profitability of the industry.
6) Documentation and reporting: Maintaining documentation of all IT systems and solutions
used by the Center and providing regular reports to the Director and other stakeholders
on the status of ongoing research projects.
The Information Technology Research Specialist plays a critical role in advancing the
aquaculture industry through the development and application of information technology
solutions that can improve the efficiency, sustainability, and profitability of aquaculture
production. This role requires a strong background in information technology and software
development, as well as a solid understanding of aquaculture production and research
methodologies.
IV. RESEARCH SPECIALIST
Primary responsibility: To provide technical expertise and support for research projects
related to aquaculture technologies and practices.
Job responsibilities:
1) Research planning: Assisting in the planning and design of research projects, including
the development of research questions, selection of appropriate research methods, and
identification of necessary resources.
2) Data collection and analysis: Conducting data collection and analysis for research
projects, including the development of protocols, sample collection and processing, and
data analysis using statistical software.
3) Laboratory and field work: Conducting laboratory and field experiments related to
aquaculture technologies and practices, including the maintenance of equipment and
materials, data collection, and analysis.
4) Literature review: Conducting literature reviews to identify and synthesize existing
research on aquaculture technologies and practices, and to identify gaps in the current
knowledge base.
5) Reporting and publication: Contributing to the preparation of research reports and
publications, including the drafting of sections related to methods, results, and
discussion.
6) Collaboration: Collaborating with other researchers, industry partners, and stakeholders

V. TRAINER

the needs of the aquaculture industry, including topics such as sustainable aquaculture
production, innovative technologies, and best practices in aquaculture management.
2) Delivery of training: Delivering training programs through a range of channels, including
in-person training sessions, webinars, and online courses. This may involve developing
engaging and interactive training materials that effectively convey complex concepts.
3) Program evaluation: Assessing the effectiveness of training programs and making
recommendations for improvement based on feedback from participants.
4) Stakeholder engagement: Building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders
in the aquaculture industry, including industry associations, government agencies, and
academic institutions, to ensure that training programs are aligned with the needs of the
industry.

VI. SUPPORT STAFF


Primary responsibility: To provide support for the daily operations of the center and to help
ensure that all activities are carried out smoothly and efficiently.
Job responsibilities:

1) Administrative support: Providing administrative support to the Center, including
scheduling appointments, organizing meetings, and handling correspondence.
2) Financial management: Assisting with the financial management of the Center, including
tracking expenses, preparing invoices, and processing payments.
3) Facility management: Assisting with the management of the facility, including monitoring
equipment, maintaining cleanliness, and addressing maintenance needs.
4) Event coordination: Coordinating events and workshops hosted by the Center, including
preparing materials, managing logistics, and ensuring a successful event.
5) Outreach and communication: Assisting with outreach and communication efforts to
promote the Center's activities and achievements, including managing social media
accounts and creating marketing materials.
6) General support: Providing general support for research projects and other activities
carried out by the center, as needed.
The Support Staff plays an important role in ensuring that the Center operates efficiently and
effectively. This role requires strong organizational and communication skills, attention to detail,
and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
TECHNICIAN
Primary responsibility: To support the research and development efforts of the center in the
field of aquaculture.
Job responsibilities:
Conducting routine maintenance and repairs of equipment and facilities: Be responsible for
maintaining the functionality of the Center's equipment and facilities, including tanks, pumps,
filters, and other aquatic systems.
Assisting with the design and implementation of aquaculture experiments: You will work closely
with the researchers at the Center to set up and conduct experiments that aim to improve the
efficiency and sustainability of aquaculture.
Monitoring and managing the health of aquatic animals: You will be responsible for monitoring
the health of the animals under your care, including fish, shrimp, and other aquatic organisms,
and ensuring that they are provided with the appropriate feed, water quality, and other
environmental conditions.
Collecting and analyzing data: You will be responsible for collecting and recording data from
experiments and other activities at the Center and analyzing this data using statistical software
and other tools.
Participating in outreach and education activities: Participate in outreach and education
activities, such as presenting at conferences or leading tours of the center, to help promote the
work of Center and increase awareness of the importance of sustainable aquaculture.
The technician has a strong background in biology, aquaculture, or a related field, as well as
experience working with aquatic animals and equipment. Should also be comfortable working
independently and as part of a team, and have strong organizational and communication skills.
