1) A group of students designed a DIY water garbage picker called WAGARPICK to help clean up waste in their local community's waterways.
2) WAGARPICK is made from recycled materials like plastic bottles, nylon, pvc pipes, and uses a system of bottles, ropes, and pipes to open and close to pick up trash from the water surface.
3) The students have created a proposal template to present their WAGARPICK design and get feedback from their teacher on its uniqueness, resourcefulness, creativity, and the quality of their presentation.

PROJECT PROPOSAL Project title WAGARPICK (WAter GARbage PICKer) Project descriptions This project is a DIY rubbish collector which will be used in the water (Features, Function(s) surface only. Since our community area is near to the sea and typically and/or Relevance) a lot of people are unable to do the proper waste management, we decided to make a very simple yet useful tool for picking up the waste in the water. It is a do-it-yourself water garbage picker or WAGARPICK for short. It is made of used plastic bottles, nylon(tansi), pvc pipe, and other recycable materials. This project will promote the importance of life below water, reduce water pollution, and help mitigate the effects of climate change. Project proponents Nicole Rivera, Shaira Paloyo, Hearth Kimberly Gallardo, Elcied Roque, and Jacqueline Ilustrisimo This project used the following materials: Materials needed and costs Plastic Bottle (recycable) Glue Gun Cord or Rope Scissors Paint brush PVC Pipe - 80.00 Nylon (Tansi) - 50.00 Stick Glue - 15.00 Paint -90 This project followed the following steps: Detailed Procedure • To start this project, first get the materials needed. • Get 2L plastic bottle. Cut the bottom into 4 equal pieces using a cutter. • In each center of cutted pieces of bottle create a small hole. • Also, create 4 small holes at the body of the bottle (2 inches from the top) aligned in with each holes of cutted pieces of the bottle. • Get a nylon(tansi) and put it in the 4 holes created from the bottom and to the body part holes of the bottle to put it together inside the the bottle. • Tie the end of the nylon in a knot and connect to a long cord(rope) • Make the bottle and the PVC pipe connected to each other and put the long cord(rope) inside the pvc pipe. • Get a PVC pipe(4 inches long) that is bigger than the first pipe used which we will make as the handle. • On the first pvc pipe used put a two hole parallel to each other (6 inches away from its end point) • And on the pipe which will serve as the handle, create a hole, parallel to each other(1 inch from its end point). • Put the two ends of the cord(rope) into its opposite holes then tie. • Try to pull it. The bottom of the bottle will open and you can now pick a trash in the water. • And there you have it, it’s ready to use.
