4.0 LOADING INFORMATION

Weight and balancedata is preparedindividually for each airplane. Proceduresusedin

this sectionhave been approvedby the FAA.

ACAC Addendum Page 3 shows the moment and loading envelopediagrams applicable
to the 8KCAB. A weight and balancereport containing the airplane empty weight,
moment, and the approved equipmentlist is attachedto this manual. Theseitems are
explainedbelow.

4.1 MOMENT AND LOADING

The loading envelope shows the allowable limits of the total airplane moment from the
minimum weight to the maximum grossweight. The moment diagram gives the moment
contribution of the pilot, passenger, fuel, oil, and baggage. To find the moment
contribution of a 1001bpassenger,move vertically upward along the weight scaleto
1001bs.,move horizontally to the passengerline, the moment contribution is read
vertically downward from this point, i.e. 4500lbs.

To determineif a particular weight configuration is acceptable, find the total weight and

the total moment by summing the contributions of each component, including the empty
airplane (oil moment is negative and must be subtracted). On the loading diagram, locate
the intersectionto the horizontal total weight line and the vertical total moment line. If
this intersectionlies within the envelope, the configuration is acceptable.
(ACAC Addendum Page 4)

Note the distinction of normal and acrobaticcategory areas. Acrobatic category

operationsare prohibited outside of the acrobaticcategory envelopeand at total weights
above 1800 lbs. Referencesection 1.2 of the aircraft flight manual for aerobaticcategory
limitation.

4.2 WEIGHT AND BALANCE

The weight and balance report give the official aircraft empty weight, empty moment,
empty CG, and useful load. The empty weight includes unusablefuel and undrainable
oil. (ACAC AddendumPage3)

4.3 EQUTPMENT

Each item installed on the airplane at the time of weighting is marked with and X on the
equipmentlist. The weight and moment are of eachitem are also shown. The
accelerometeris required for acrobaticcategory operation only. (ACAC Addendum

WEIGHTAND BALANCE

GENERAL

It is the pilot's responsibilityto insure that the aircraft is loaded properly and within the weight and balance
l;.-'ations. All flight performancgproceduresandcharacteristics arebased.on'thisprerequisite.

If the aircraft is to be usedfor aerobaticflight; it mustbe loadedwithin.the:approved, flight

envelope.The rear
is
center-of-gravity,limit consideredcritical. In additioq no baggageis allowed.

firegross weight limit is the samefor both normaland acrobaticcategory. The importanceofthis limit cannotbe
over emphasizedespeciallywhen performing aerobatics.Subjectingthe aircraft to the maximumapprovedload
factor limits in an overgrosscondition may resultin damageor completestructuralfailure of the airframe.

The actuallicensedemptyweight andcenterofgravity (C.G.) of a specificeairiraft canbe found in Section4 of the

FAAApprovedAirplaneFlightManual. Atl additionalchangesto the aircraftemptyweight and C.G. after the time
of manufacturemust alsobe attachedto Section4 of the flight manual. From this information andthe following
instructions, the pilot caneasilydeterminethe "Useful Load" and properloadingdistributionfor the aircraft.

Aloadinggraphandflight envelopeis given in this sectionand in Section4 of the FAA Approved Flight Manual as
an aid to weight and balancecalculation.
