Conclusion

The COVID-19 pandemic’s disruptions negatively impacted toddlers’ cognitive and

intellectual development. Innovation and creativity were vital to ensuring these young
individuals positively mitigated the restrictions on movement imposed worldwide. Parental
indulgence in their toddlers’ activities ensured their cognitive and intellectual development
proceeded unimpeded. Indoor and outdoor games that limited contact with outsiders were
effective in challenging the toddlers, prompting critical thinking essential in their psychological
functioning. Also, additional indoor activities like drawing and painting enabled children to
express their feelings and portray their surroundings using drawn pictures. Reading books to
their children allowed them to learn basic words and pronunciations. These activities were
influential in the child’s cognitive development because they provided challenges that enhanced
thinking. The children’s efforts to solve simple issues prompted the expansion of their cognitive
functions.
