Reading Books
Book reading provides an essential cognitively effective for toddlers. It creates curiosity
that prompts heightened interest in books. Toddlers are appropriately suited to listening to their
parents read words from children's books. Also, they could be taught how to pronounce simple
words that are easy for them. The CDC (2021) argues that parents should start reading books to
their toddlers to increase their interest in books. The rapid cognitive development present during
this age requires comprehension of various activities to keep the child busy and engaged. Parents
that repeatedly read books to their toddlers achieved better outcomes due to their rapidly
developing cognitive functions inherent in this age group. Such activities ensured toddlers had
less free time to engage in unhealthy activities that could harm their wellbeing (UNICEF, 2020).
Allowing breaks between various reading sessions could enable the child to remember some
words and pronounce them.
