Games
Games are an essential aspect of a child’s cognitive and intellectual development. They

enable normal body functioning devoid of various illnesses and conditions prevalent in morbid

individuals (Araujo et al., 2021). The UN (2020) has similar assertions concerning preventing

children from playing normally. Their psychological health is negatively impacted if parents do

not actively participate in alternative activities to reduce boredom and emotional distress.

Besides, games are effective catalysts of cognitive development due to the challenges posed to

toddlers. They could be categorized into two;

Indoor games

Numerous indoor games essential to toddlers were a key component of their parental

support. According to UNICEF (2020), toddlers are more likely to engage in games that invoke

curiosity. Such interest benefited this age group because it enabled them to concentrate on

understanding the final result. The time spent during games was essential in keeping toddlers

busy to avoid mingling with others who could transmit the COVID-19 virus to them (Eyimaya &

Irmak, 2021). Interacting with the child and encouraging them to continue with the game

heightened their interest and ensured they spent considerable time before they were bored or

tired. Making box cars from readily available items like cartons could keep toddlers busy. Boys

were more likely to play with toy cars than girls. In contrast, girls were more attracted to toys

like dolls and teddy bears.
