Statement of Purpose

To,

Canadian High Commission

Respected Consular,

My name is Twinkle Patel, and I am applying to secure a study permit

to Canada to study Mental Health and Addiction Worker (Formerly
Drug and Alcohol Counsellor) at Fleming College College,
Peterborough, Ontario.

My parents have been progressive, and because of that, they have

relinquished traditions which they found obsolete in all realms of life
that not only help them to stay ahead of their peers but also
benefitted during my formative years. They shared equal
responsibility to raise me even though in my country, traditionally
the responsibility to raise a kid falls on the mother. They were aware
of the fact that mental health is as important as physical health for
the comprehensive growth of offspring. My physical fitness did not
bother them a lot because I was a fitness aficionado as well as learnt
the importance of a healthy diet. But mental health was an area of
concern because it was not discussed much in society. So, my
parents decided to inculcate about mental health and illnesses by
having conversations regarding symptoms and remedies of mental
diseases, and such discussions about mental health assisted me to
keep mental diseases such as anxiety, depression and eating
disorders because of that I was inexorable in my childhood in all
sectors.
I did not loathe referring to textbooks rather I considered them as
one of my favourite leisure activities because I thought textbooks
offer not only opportunities to amass knowledge about new things
but also hone cognitive skills. such propensity allowed me to score
the same grade in the 10th standard as well 12th standard ( science
stream) which was an A2 grade. Subsequently, I got enrolled in the
bachelor of science (chemistry). During the course spanning three
years, I studied a wide range of modules such as Inorganic chemistry,
Organic Chemistry, mathematics, Biochemistry and Environmental
Chemistry, Application of computers in Chemistry. I secured 69.28%
in a bachelor of science (chemistry). I have scored an overall 6.0 band
in IELTS (Listening-6.0, Reading-6.0, Writing -6.0, Speaking-6.0) limn
my proficiency in the English language which is a prerequisite to get
admission into a course of my choice for further study.
After finishing a bachelor of science, I decided to hold my academic
journey to acquire professional experience and started looking for
employment in the field where I could apply my academic
knowledge.
After appearing for interviews at various consortiums, I secured a job
at
Devnandan Organic Pvt Ltd as a lab assistant. I worked there for
more than six months. I strongly avouch that my stint there was a
turning point in my life. I was trusted and trained by seniors as well
as given different responsibilities which assisted me to broaden my
horizon regarding the usage of chemistry in the real world and its
growing scope of it. I am sure that my experience will be helpful to
be well prepared for the challenges which will be encountered by me
in my academic and professional career in the future.

While working at Devanandan Organic Pvt Ltd, I realised that my

academic qualification in the field of chemistry would not help me to
fulfil my professional aspirations as this field has an excess supply of
professionals compared to the demand. So, I made up to the mind to
advance my academic journey by pursuing such a degree which will
not only help to grow professionally but also make me competent to
serve human beings. I was being very cautious while choosing a
course for my further education because a wrong decision could hurt
my chances to fulfil my aspirations. So, I did not reply to the
information available on the internet, and I consulted educational
connoisseurs. After profound online research and consultation with
pedagogy experts, I have chosen to study in the field of mental
health as mental health professionals earn handsome employment
because there has been a paucity of mental health experts to treat
those who are battling against mental health diseases. Even mental
health professionals have greater diversity in their professional
careers as a degree in mental allows them to work in different
capacities in the same field. Even they can bring positive changes in
people’s life by edifying them regarding the importance of mental
health.

As learning is a never-ending process, I am determined to propel my

academic career prospect as a result of that I have zeroed in on
Canada to pursue my further education because the Canadian
education system is one of the best in the world and the degree of
Canadian education institutes is recognised ubiquitously. Canada is
known for its multicultural society because of that Canada attracts
people from different ethnicities. Very few countries are as
progressive as Canada. Canada is the most visited country in North
America continent due to its exquisite weather, pristine natural
beauty and tourist attractions.

Fleming College is my natural choice to pursue further study for

obvious reasons.  The courses at Fleming colleges have been
designed by keeping the demand of relevant industries.  The number
of students in each class is less so all the students get a conducive
environment for study. Bursaries and scholarships are rewards by the
college to deserving students.  The location of the college makes the
college more appalling to get admission as there are plenty of places
where students can enjoy leisure activities such as water sports and
outdoor sports even they can dine out in demotic restaurants, and
they can get familiar with local cultures.  Students are provided
support beyond the classrooms in this college. So, they can combat
the problems encountered by them. After considering all the perks, I
am staunch to get enrolled in Mental Health and Addiction Worker
( Formerly Drug and Alcohol Counsellor) at this alma mater. My
educational expenses are sponsored by my parents. The Tuition fees
amounting to $ 14,097.42 has been paid and opened a GIC account
in Canada for me with over $ 10000 deposited. The receipts for the
program fees and GIC are attached to my application for your
review.

This course comprises a wide range of modules such as Counseling

Interventions, Mental Health & Recovery, Ethics and Professional
Practice, Professional Practice, Family and Social Support, Trauma
Specific Treatment Interventions, General Education Elective, and
Understanding Concurrent Disorders. All these modules help me to
augment my current repertoire as it aims to equip me with much-
needed knowledge of mental health problems and treatments. So, I
will be able to treat patients with mental diseases and rehab people
who are dedicated to illegal substances.

After pursuing a degree in Canada, I am keen to return to my home

country where the number of patients with mental health diseases
has been upsurging for more than a decade due to poor health
infrastructure as well as mental health literacy among denizens. I am
sure the skills and knowledge which will be possessed by me after
pursuing a degree in mental health and addiction worker will help
me get hired by eminent hospitals as well as rehabilitation centres
where I will be getting big paycheques for curing patients with
mental health issues and helping people to denounce their additions
of drugs and alcohol. I will not be looking forward to monetizing my
expertise as a patriotic, I am committed to serving my downtrodden
compatriots by providing my service without charging a single penny
to build a healthy and happy nation. As per the norm of my Society,
it is my moral duty to be with my family and take care of my parents
in the latter part of their life, and provide financial and emotional
support to all of my family members.

I have provided the necessary details and hope you will consider my
application and grant me the study permit. So, I can move closer to
experiencing a new culture and take a step closer to achieving my
next professional goals in life. In case of any query or want further
information, please feel free to contact me at …….

Sincerely,

Twinkle Patel.
