Startup Procedure
The following procedure illustrates the functional steps required to prepare the aircraft for
flight - many of the tests and checks required in the real-world procedures have been

Preflight

Check Controllers
● Make sure all switches and levers are in the correct starting positions

Tablet (CTRL+3)

Aircraft Tab
● Battery ON

● Connect Ground Power

Overhead (CTRL+6)

MAIN ELEC PWR section (second column, middle)


● BAT to ON

Wait for screens 2 and 4 in the cockpit to come alive

● EXT PWR to ON

EXTLT section (second column, bottom)


● BEACON to OFF
● NAV to ON

HYDPWR Section (third column, top)


● BLUE PUMP to ON
● AUX PUMP to ON
● GREEN PUMP to ON

PROP BRAKE section (second column, middle)


● UNCAGE, switch to ON, RE-CAGE

MAIN ELEC PWR section (second column, middle)


● DC GEN 1 to ON
● DC GEN 2 to ON

SIGNS section (third column, bottom)


● SEAT BELTS to ON (up)
● EMEREXITLT to ARMED

WINDSHIELD HTG section (third column, middle)


● L to ON
● R to ON

AC WILD ELEC PWR section (third column, middle)


● ACW GEN1 to ON
● ACW GEN2 to ON

ANNLT section (fourth column, bottom)


● ANNLT to BRT

OXYGEN section (forth column, middle)


● MAIN SUPPLY to ON

Cockpit (F)
● Configure Flight Guidance Control Panel (FGCP):
○ Set HDG and COURSE to Runway direction
○ Set NAV source
○ Preselect ALTITUDE targetf

● Set COM and NAV radios appropriately


● On Pedestal, click BRG1 and BRG2 to display data on PFD

Multifunction Control Display Unit / MCDU (CTRL+4)

FMS > INIT > POS INIT


● Copy GPS position to INIT POS
● RETURN

WEIGHT
● Long click on each empty field to populate weights
● RETURN

PERF INIT (or PERF)

● Programme cruise altitude


● RETURN

FPLN INIT > ROUTE


● Enter From/To ICAO codes, and EXEC

Executing redirects to the FPLN page

● Configure SID and STAR as appropriate


● Add en-route waypoints as appropriate
● Remove discontinuities

Use “North Up” mode on EFIS display to step through legs with NEXT and PREV buttons on
MCDU.

Cockpit (F)

Flight Guidance Control Panel / FGCP


● Preselect LNAV
● Preselect VNAV
● Calibrate alimeters (shortcut - press B)

Overhead (CTRL+6)

FUEL section (first column, middle)


● ENG1 PUMP to ON
● ENG2 PUMP to ON

Engine Start

Overhead (CTRL+6)

ENG START section (second column, bottom section)


● Ignition knob to START A

ENG START section (second column, bottom section)


● START2 to ON

Cockpit (F)
● Monitor NH% in cockpit
● At 10% advance condition lever 1 to FTHR

Overhead (CTRL+6)

ENG START section (second column, bottom section)


● Ignition knob to OFF & START ABORT

MAIN ELEC PWR section (second column, middle)


● EXT PWR to OFF

Tablet (CTRL+3)

AIRCRAFT tab
● Remove GROUND POWER
● Close doors, remove tail prop, etc.

Cockpit (F)
● Switch EFIS to show performance data - MFD PERF page
● Click “CONFIRM T/O DATA”
● Confirm V1 is blue on IAS ribbon
● Set trim to match EWD screen (next to engine torque Findicators)

Overhead (CTRL+6)

EXT LT section (third column, bottom)


● BEACON to ON (up)

PROP BRAKE section (second column, middle)


● UNCAGE propeller brake
● PROP BRAKE to OFF (down)
● CAGE propeller brake

Cockpit (F)
● Wait for NP to rise above 10% (in EWD screen)
● CONDITION 2 lever to AUTO

Overhead (CTRL+6)

ENG START section (second column, middle)


● Ignition knob to START A

FUEL section (first column, middle)


● PUMP 1 to ON

ENG START section (second column, middle)


● START1 to ON

Cockpit (F)
● Monitor NH% in cockpit - at 10% advance condition lever 1 to FTHR
● Wait for NP to rise above 10% (in EWD screen)
● CONDITION 1 lever to AUTO

Overhead (CTRL+6)

ENG START section (second column, middle)


● Ignition knob to OFF & START ABORT

MAIN ELEC PWR section (second column, top)


● Unguard TRU
● PRESS TRU
● Re-guard TRU

PROBES HTG section (third column, middle)


● CAPT to ON
● STBY to ON
● F/O to ON

Cockpit (F)
● Set Flaps (15 degrees)
● SURV page of EFIS - configure Transponder code

Tablet (CTRL+3)

AIRCRAFT tab
● Remove WHEEL CHOCKS

Cockpit (F)

Levers
● PARKING BRAKE to OFF
● GUST LOCK to OFF

Overhead (CTRL+6)

EXT LT section (2nd column, bottom)


● TAXI & T.O. lights to ON
● LAND lights to ON

Taxi

Cockpit (F)

● Pre-select auto-throttle target airspeed if required

Overhead (CTRL+6)

● STROBE lights to ON

Takeoff

● THROTTLES to NOTCH
● Rotate at 120 knots

Climb Out

Instrument Panel (CTRL+1)

PWR MGT
● Knob to CLB at 400ft AGL

Cruise

Instrument Panel (CTRL+1)

PWR MGT
● Knob to CRZ at target altitude

Remember - QNH to standard at transition altitude, landing lights on below 10,000ft
