Introduction

The nursery business is one that is actually developing at a rapid pace. Every year, it
generates billions of plants, providing significant contributions to the forestry, vegetable,
fruit, landscaping, cut flower, and parks businesses, as well as the general public. It is certain
that there always be a need for plants, and as a result, there will always be a demand for
nurseries.

Nurseries may be found in a variety of shapes and sizes all around the globe. Many are
modest family enterprises, with others being only a little hobby company to supplement the
family's primary source of revenue. On the opposite end of the spectrum are enormous
commercial operations that employ dozens of people and produce millions of plants every
year. A nursery, no matter how large or little, need sound management in order to be
financially successful.

During this course, we must complete the final exam, which is a visit to a nursery. The aims
of this nursery visit are including recognising the general structure and infrastructure in a
plant nursery, trying to identify the types of crops that are available according to the
categories of nursery, acquiring knowledge and attributing from the subject lesson about the
control approaches taken in the nursery, such as control of pests, weed management, and
fertiliser application, and learning and relating from the subject lesson about the management
practises applied in the nursery.

Product

Decorative plants are the primary product of Come Come Come Sdn Bhd. Ornamental plants,
often known as show plants, are plants that are produced for the purpose of displaying their
blossoms in a garden or landscape. It is mainly cultivated for its look, whether for sampling,
accentuation, specimen, colour, or aesthetic purposes. Floral decorative qualities include the
presence of leaves, aroma, flowers, stems, and bark. Ficus Microcarpa Bonsai, Money Tree,
Codiaeum, Malus Spectabilis , and a variety of other attractive plants are available for
purchase at the nursery.

Additionally, the nursery offers fruiting plants in addition to decorative plants. Fruit trees are
characterised as a blend of indigenous and alien fruit tree species which provide year-round
harvests of fresh fruits and cover the food insecurity period, often known as the 'hunger gap,'
as well as particular nutritional deficiencies. Fruit is produced by all trees that blossom plants,
and it is the matured ovaries of flowers that contain one or more seeds that are consumed or
utilised. Come Come Come Sdn Bhd sells a wide range of goods, including different varieties
of Rambutan, different varieties of Durian, different varieties of Mango, different varieties of
Guava, and many more. From this current perspective, I can observe that Come Come Come
Sdn Bhd sells a large number of locally grown fruit trees.

In addition, one of the best-selling items at the nursery is plant-related accessories, such as
different types of pots and plant containers, fertiliser, medium, seeds, and gardening
equipment.

Plant Management

Fertilisers

It is estimated that plants utilise more than fifty different elements, each in a different
proportion. All plants make use of a minimum of sixteen elements in some form. In most
cases, the nine nutrient elements most commonly used by plants in large quantities are carbon
(C) and hydrogen (H), which are obtained from air and water, respectively. The remaining
eight nutrient elements are nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium (K), calcium (Ca), magnesium
(Mg), and sulphur (S), which are obtained primarily from soil or growing media. Major
elements are occasionally referred to as such. The most extensively utilised components in
fertilisers are nitrogen, phosphorous, and potassium. Fertilisers supply nutrients to plants,
allowing them to grow larger and quicker while producing greater yields of edible fruit and
vegetables. This nursery also utilized 13-13-23+Mgo+TE for ornamental plants such as roses
or plants that blossom flowers. The NPK 15-15-15 fertiliser is used exclusively by this
nursery for the maintenance of fruit plants.

Irrigation System

Dams, boreholes, streams, and rivers provide water for agricultural irrigation systems, which
are then used to irrigate crops. Pressure requirements for various agricultural irrigation
systems differ. An automatic pressure regulator is placed to prevent the emitters from being
blown off while using low-pressure techniques like as drip irrigation. This nursery, on the
other hand, solely uses a manual irrigation system, which is a direct water tap that is attach
with a hose to irrigate each and every plant in the nursery. When watering a tiny plant such as
a succulent, use a watering can. The amount of water applied to the plant is normally twice
daily, depending on the kind of crop and weather conditions.

Site Management

Every day before the nursery opens, they will clean up the trash and garbage that has
accumulated over time. Trash and any crop or non-plant debris must also be removed or burnt
in order to avoid the spread of pests and illnesses.

Hand pulling or hand weeding are used in the nursery to eradicate weeds by pulling them out
or drawing them out for weeding, which is a traditional method of weed prevention.
Herbicides cannot be used to eradicate weeds from seedlings since they will hurt or kill the
seedlings due of their young age and inexperience. In order to guarantee that weeds are
always little and young enough to be eradicated exclusively by hand-weeding, the most
perfect strategy is to hand-pull them.

Finally, drain clearing is a must-do chore for Come Come Come Sdn Bhd since a clogged
drain caused by dirt and leaves may flood the nursery on a wet day, necessitating frequent
cleaning of the drainage system.

Suggestion

Based on my observations, I would like to advise to Come Come Come Sdn Bhd that they
attempt their own propagation methods in the future. This nursery may be able to save money
on its operating expenditures if it does its own propagation. Apart from that, this organisation
may also provide their customers with a selection of alternatives.

Following that, I recommend that the nursery use effective pest control measures. Because
the majority of the plants they get from suppliers are sold straight to customers, the nursery
does not currently use any pest control measures. However, there are a few plants that have
been damaged by pests, and it would be a waste to throw them away. As a result, adequate
pest management must be implemented by Come Come Come Sdn Bhd in order to minimise
wastage.

Conclusion

To summarise, I am prepared to achieve the objectives of my field visit. Different types of

nurseries need the employment of different nursery managers. I gained a great deal of
knowledge from my field trip research, notably on wholesale and retail nursery types. I was
an understudy with the opportunity to learn about the many types of plants available in this
wholesale and retail nursery, as well as distinguish between the nursery's key structures and
the nursery's water system configuration. Aside from that, the most important things I can
take away from this field trip are plant rehearses concerning plant executives at this
wholesale and retail nursery, such as fertiliser application, weed and irritation
administrations, and how they affect the development of nursery plants. Last but not least, I
gained an indirect understanding of communication abilities both on the field trip and after
writing this report.
