A Detailed
Lesson Plan in
Computer
Systems Serving
(TVL Track)

I. OBJECTIVES:
At the end of the lesson the learners should able to:
• Identify the color coding of wires used in straight through LAN Cable
• Perform a straight through LAN Cabling.
• Apply the step by step process in crimping Ethernet.

II. SUBJECT MATTER:

 Topic : Network Cabling: Straight-through Cables
 References : https://etesda.gov.ph/mod/book/view.php?id=1119&chapterid=1851
 Materials : UTP cable, RJ-45 connector, crimping tool, wire stripper,
network cable tester
 Values : Patience, obedience, safety

III. LEARNING ACTIVITIES

A. Preliminary Activities Teacher’s Activity Student’s Activity

1. Prayer

One student will led the Juan, You led the prayer. Our Father, Who art in heaven,
prayer. hallowed be Thy name; Thy kingdom
come; Thy will be done on earth as it is
in heaven. Give us this day our daily
bread; and forgive us our trespasses as
we forgive those who trespass against
us; and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil. Amen

2.Building of Rapport
Good morning class. Good morning ma’am.

How are you? We’re doing great ma’am.

Are you ready for our lesson today? Yes ma’am.

3.Checking of Attendance

The teacher will call the Jane, are there any absent today? None ma’am.
student assigned to check
the class attendance. Since no one is absent let us review what
we have learned in our past lesson.
Lesson Proper
A. Review of the past lesson
Class, can you still remember our past
lesson? Yes ma’am.

What was our past lesson all about? It’s about what is Local Area Network.

A Local Area Network is a computer

Please sit down and pay attention

while I show you pictures of tools that
have jumbled text below and guess
what kind of tool it is.

Is that clear? Yes maam.

C. Lesson Proper

Alright, before we proceed to our main

topic, let us define some terms as we will
encounter them throughout the discussion.

•UTP Cable- Unshielded Twisted Pair

(UTP) Cable- A popular type of cable that
is commonly used for Local Area
Networks.

•RJ-45 Cable- An eight wire connector

used to connect the computers to

cable to RJ45 connector to hold each
other.

•Wire Stripper-used to is a tool designed

to remove the protective covering (jacket)
from a cable to expose the inner wires.

•Network Cable Tester- used to test if the

cable is properly done and can control the
network.

Today, we will be discussing about

LAN/Ethernet cabling. Particularly, the
straight-through cabling. We will also
be discussing how to create a straight-
through cable. Students will read the
definition.
Ethernet/LAN Cabling - the process of
creating cable used to create a network
that interconnects computers and other
network devices.

cables, and what are these?

2. Crossover Cable

Now, there are two types of Ethernet/LAN

cables. The first one is straight-through
cable and the other is the crossover cable.
But for this session, we will be focusing on
the straight- through cable.

So, what is a straight-through cable?

as the patch cable or Ethernet cable. This
is the most common format for network Straight-through cables

a computer to a modem, router, or switch.
This is also used between networking
equipment that are not similar to each
other.

It is said that the straight-through cable is

used to connect a computer to a network
hub such as a router. Therefore, when do
we use straight- through cable?
